Pull the coil covers off and check the coils and spark plug journals for water intrusion.

What ^^roy said. You probably got water in there pull off your coil covers very easy. Get your self some dielectric grease while your at it and apply.

Hopefully you do not have a cold air kit and wet the filter... If not the coils are indeed wet. Everyone learns from their mistakes, get an engine washer from Harbor Freight it puts out a controlled amount of diluted cleaning solution. You gotta have compressed air though.

I never wash my engine - I just wipe it down real good because of water problems that result from our modern engines.

I used to get misfires when I would wash the engine of my Crown Vic. You must have gotten a coil wet.

I wash mine all the time. Never use a power washer, just engine cleaner, hose, compressed air and CD2 Engine Detailer.

Glenn also likes shorty headers and has a 70s porno mustache. Spray it, you'll be fine.

The biggest issue is getting water under the coil covers and weting the coils/plugs. Get some black RTV sealant, remove cover and put a thin bead under where the gasket meets the valve cover. Let it skin over, put cover back on and make sure you don't torg the bolts to tight. Problem solved. Wash to your hearts content. Learned the hard way.

thanks guys. i opened the left side coil and pulled out the coils and there was a ton of water inside. i blew it out with compressed air.
i also replaced a coil that was burned out. the bottom couple inches of the rubber stem turned yellow and it smelled burned out.
runs great now.

FWIW this is far less common with the older ignition systems that use plug wires.
