Hey guys/gals,

Looking to possibly take a trip to Boston, preferably downtown. What is there to do there? I have never been and since Southwest flies there now, was just looking for a weekend getaway trip!

Could see the Blue Man Group at the Charles Playhouse. Have a meal and go shopping at Quincy Market / Faneuil Hall. Go to the museum of science and the aquarium. Go to some bars. Have dinner at the top of the Prudential building.... plenty to do in Boston!

Great suggestions, TJ.

Boston Duck Tour tickets are available at the Prudential Center. Do that before having dinner at The Top of the Hub (Pru restaurant TJ mentioned.) I did both one day and it was a cool experience. I even got to drive the duck boat on the Charles River!

Walk through the Italian North End, not far from Quincy Market. Many great restaurants.

Freedom Trail...many historical sights within the city. http://www.thefreedomtrail.org/

Old North Church. "One if by land, two if by sea." http://www.oldnorth.com/hist.htm

Charlestown Navy Yard and tour the USS Constitution, oldest commissioned naval vessel in continuous use in the US.

I know I live 45 minutes away from Boston, but my ex and I stayed for a full weekend in Boston and we stayed at the Millenium Bostonian and got a room with a balcony looking over quincy market / Fanieul Hall and I LOVED the view from the balcony!

Boston was great when I went there in 1996 for a week. I've been all over this planet, some of the best ports to party in and see the sights are right here in the good ol' U.S. of A.

I go to boston 3-4 times a week...my girlfriend lives there.

Fannuel hall is a nice place to walk around. It's also within walking distance of the aquarium. Fenway park is always a good one, you could try getting in on one of the tours, they let you walk onto the field and behind the scoreboard.

Great hotel and right in the middle of things, such as the Aquarium, Quincy Market, the harbor and the North End. Depending on your arrival/departure time, you can get a water taxi to the airport by the Boston Harbour Hotel, just up the street.

Warning:

I climbed the Bunker Hill monument when I was much younger (and in decent shape).

My legs hurt for three days.

If you like history, you'll love Boston.

Hit the Chelsea St. East Boston location if you want the best working man's Italian food in Boston....

Come out of the tunnel coming from the North End of Boston, and go right immediatly out of the tunnel....... Chelsea St. will be on your right about 50-100 ft from your exit if memory serves me..

Santarpio's Pizza Will Be Opening a Second Location in Peabody

[Ed note: This article has been updated as of January 19, 2010.]

A classic old-school pizza joint in East Boston will soon have a second location.

According to both The Hubster and Grub Street Boston, Santarpio's Pizza is looking at moving into the former Bennigan's spot on Route 1 in Peabody (the Bennigan's in Peabody closed last year after the chain filed for bankruptcy). The Hubster states that if all goes as planned, the new Santarpio's might open in the spring of 2010. [January 19 update: According to a Boston Herald article, Santarpio's gained court approval last week to buy the old Bennigan's spot. The article goes on to say that Santarpio's is hoping to open the new Peabody location by May, and that the restaurant will have a capacity of 300.]

Santarpio's first opened as a bakery in East Boston more than a hundred years ago, with the pizzeria opening in the 1930s. The Chelsea Street restaurant and bar has become a local institution over the years, and is considered by many to have the best pizza in the Greater Boston area. In addition to pizza, Santarpio's also offers sausage and lamb skewers, as well as beer and wine.

Nothing Bostonian about the Cheesecake Factory...;)
It's a chain...lol.
Go to Castle Island In South Boston. Check out the Revolutionary Fort Independence there, it's actually a pretty cool design.

Yes! George's Island is also a great place to see some history. It's a cheap ferry ride there and back also.

The area around Fenway has lots to do and see. The MFA is within walking distance of Fenway.

That is your opinion, and I as most should have no problem with it. Maybe a better way to phrase your endorsement of Pizzeria Regina would have been "Another italian food alternative that has great food is Pizzeria Regina" See how that sounds? It does not diminish someone elses opinion, and makes clear yours.

If we take the time here to "take a second" to review our comments for both "consideration" and content, alot of the back ~n~forth :bs: that goes on here can be squashed.

Hope you agree.

Oh btw.... I'm MA native :D Just live in the ATL. I have been going to both Santarpio's and Pizzeria Regina since I can remember. Like em both.:burnout:

EASY BIG FELLA! If you are a MA native then you know how we joke around and like to prove our points, so calm down! He was just stating how much he likes the other place and that is all. No biggie... brush it off, chuckle, and move on. He meant nothing by it... it would be like saying that Pizzaria Regina is wicked pissah!

No need to get the panties in a bunch hea!

Oh yeah! I have a K&N CAI so I love romping on it in the tunnels! I will have to go there when I get an exhaust just to hear it reverberate off the walls of the tunnel!

Boston has the oldest restraunt in the country right? Some sea food joint, Union Oyster House. I really enjoyed it. Too bad the power went out when we ate the back in August of 2005. Boston was going thru some sort of underground fires in their tunnels so everywhere we walked we would see smoke coming out of the manhole covers and the fires where cutting out power everywhere.
