This is part of a response I received from Mercury regarding my Marauder.

"Thank you for your message of 11/10/03 regarding your 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis. We appreciate the time you have taken to write us concerning the warranty guide for your vehicle."

The folks at Mercury have taken to calling the Marauder a Marquis?! This is just tragic-I'm weeping now.:bigcry:

I know that everytime mine went into for an oil change I would get a letter saying that they were glad that I brought my Marquis in for service.

The big difference is, the 2003 Marauders were code M75 which does come up as a Grand Marquis. The 2004s are M79 which is Marauder specific, and should come up as a Marauder when Ford enters data for the car

If that's the case, does that mean that the 2004 Marauder's will be more expensive to insure?

I don't think so. The Insurance companies mostly figured out how to tell a 2003 Marauder from a 2003 Grand Marquis, so I don't expect them to price insurance for a 2004 Marauder different from a 2003 Marauder

Yes, i especially like this

Automatic Transmission powering a V8 engine

Maybe we've been concentrating mods in the wrong area.

These dealers have to list Marauders under Grand Marquis because (unless they've just added one) eBay does not have a category for "Marauder"

I get a phone call from some woman at Mercury asking about my service experience on my 2003 MOUNTAINEER.

Sheese, not even close, folks.

Donny,
Mountaineer, Marauder, Marquis, Mercury...they all start with Ms, don't they, and "almost all" rhyme...
Sheese, what more can one hope for from a lady survey clerk ?

Ya know, i've never noticed that all of Mercury's vehicles start with an M till now! That's pretty wierd as even the new Mercury minivan called the Monterey starts with an M! I believe the only exception is the Cougar..........

and they've discontinued the Cougar.

Future Ford models will all start with an "F"

It's pretty dumb if you ask me.

Even the concept cars start with M-Mercury Messenger. Somebody stop these people.

The Cougar has been discontinued? Oh well, I never liked that car anyway as it was just too much of a chick type car. If Ford wants to eventually name all of their vehicles starting with the F, I find that a bit hard as what would you do with all of the none F vehicles? Expedition, Exploror, Excursion, Econoline, Escape, Crown Victoria, and etc.....

I just thank goodness that even with Ford being in a bit of a financial pickle, that they are still able to bring cars that us enthusiasts enjoy driving. I guess I don't mind all of these vehicles starting with the same name, but I just hope they don't start giving vehicles stupid names.

from the outside survey people? ya i got that too...what a nice flat dollar. oh, and they knew i got a maruader.

everytime i'm at the dealer i always spend at least 5 minutes explaining what my car is...'i dont own a marquis..its a marauder...its kinda like yadda yadda yadda' what bothers me the most about it is that it causes the wrong parts to be ordered
like when my foglight was filled with water...
'but marquises doesn't have foglights!'

feh...feh and meh.
