So I got my 2008 Taurus back from the dealer after I had them check some stuff out and was planning on installing my new ddmtuning low beam HID kit.
WHAT A PITA!!!
The whole front bumper needs to come off to remove the headlights. If I had some smaller hands or more room to work behind the headlights the front bumper cover wouldn't need to come off but sadly it does. That's some BS right there, makes me feel like I own a VW since with most of them I know especially the Bug the bumper needs to be removed to replace or service the battery.
I finally found some instructions via FordTaurus.net on how to remove the front bumper. I'll post back once I'm done it.

On more of a PITA note, to remove the headlights you have to remove the whole front bumper cover. Went to install my ddmtuning HID kit, had everything hooked up then tested them only to find out the stock headlamp harness doesn't give them enough power. Luckily enough when I bought my kit for the Marauder a while back I ordered their HID wiring harness but just didn't have it with me. I'll install them tomorrow.
You and your HID's.

Hmmm... battery on my Bug was under the back seat. Good luck on your current project.

My volvo is the same way, if you want to take the headlights out the bumper must come off!
Thank God for the design of the Panther cars. Did my H.I.D.s in 30 minutes, biggest obstacle was removing the battery for the Pass side lol

It could be a crysler in the left fender wheel behind the tire and fender linner ... But it looks like you have a handle on it chris

The wire harness from ddmtuning did the trick, only issue is the low beams don't go off when high beams come on but hey more light now! lol
Again world of difference going from halogen to HID.

I found out the Fusion/Milan/MKZ/Zephur vehicles are the same way when it comes to headlight bulb replacement.

I was gonna say it sounds just like a VW/Audi. Almost everything up front requires front end removal.
