Too bad my old neighbor Doug passed away, he could prob tell you everything anyone would need to know about hat car. He was a 75 year old mopar lover could decode that thing off the top of his head. Nice to see cars like that have survived close to 40 years

Spent all day yesterday with this car, I had a ball.
I took a bunch of pictures and thought I would stick up a few.
This car is in amazing shape. Original paint Arizona car with 80K miles on the clock.
It had been sitting a year since the last time it ran. Evidently it wasn't running too good then, both mufflers are blown. It has a few leaks and a few days detailing.
If there is anybody who knows a good old school wrench in the Phoenix area let me know, I think I am going to farm out the mechanicals

Interesting to see some of the parts that it has in common with my old Cordoba ('77). Wiper motor & linkage, specifically, the worst job I ever did on that car.

^^^^ Built 4-'71, it's no doubt a 1971, six packs were getting rare by then... Was amazing how fast the the muscle car died, within a couple years they were just about gone...

Oh, snap. that brings back memories. When i was in my early twenties to early thirties i had a 72 Charger SE i kept for 14 yrs. Had a bad accident that caved in the front end. Only reason i got rid of it. My buddy had a 71 with 440 six pack stuffed in it. He got married and the wife wasn't to crazy about the car so it had to go. Loe causes strange behavior.

Me too, I Liked 70 and prior. But this many years later it is cooler than s#$t!
I was amazed when I got to it what a low profile car it is. It's big but the roofline is nice and low.
I am involved in this car for a close friend, it was her brother's and he passed from cancer. She had some one tell her it was worth 13-18 grand!
From what I have seen it would be worth more than that without the motor.

I took a ton of pictures and a couple of videos, once when I 1st got it started and another while running on a soupy mixture of fresh high test, Seafoam, Lead substitute and Octane booster. I also ran a little Marvel Mystery oil down the carb throats just to help things loosen up a bit.

I will be talking with Galen Govier today to discuss the numbers I recorded off of the engine block, transmission and rear end. to verify matching numbers.
Best I can tell the drivetrain has never been out.
It needs a few things I would expect in a 40 year old car.
Carbs cleaned
It appears to have a trans leak and from what I could tell it is coming from the front seal.
The valve cover gaskets are toast
The rear end input shaft has a leak.
It has Mopar belts and Mopar plug wires. I will be installing a repro correct battery, and the correct radiator hoses, I have a little repair to do to the right hand valve cover it is a little torqued around the filler cap and seeps a bit, it looks like I can massage it easily once the valve covers are off.
Other than that the interior is super clean there are two small tears on the drivers seat upright one about a half inch and the other about 1 1/4 ". I wil put up some more pics up this evening. Be sure and watch the videos when they go up, There are some good images of the interior in them I think...
I left here Friday at 5:00 PM and got back last night at 10:00 PM with the time changes I ate dinner Friday night around 1:00 AM and of course in Phoenix I went for mexican :bounce: Nothing like sleeping on triple heat Hatch peppers.

As Far as the battery, I have found several offers online at around $240 + shipping but I am leaning to the Year One battery.
I have a few odds and ends to buy, Ends for the sunvisors, Idle solenoid, and a few other small items.

Call them directly to get pricing. If (when) the battery goes down, it will be better to be able to deal with them directly.

I have had a number of batteries from them (I like the look), but they have had their share of problems. The yellow cap that I am running now in my '66 Belvedere has been the best and came straight from Axion.

As I am sure that you know, the other Mopar parts are available from Year One, although sometimes you have to wait for them to get them in stock.

I'm guessing you will be finishing up on a motor install around then.

That was one of the things I liked most about my Road Runner the snarl on a 3 4 upshift at 5700 was magic.

I should have the motor back from the machine shop but I am waiting on some parts, so....

I hope to test on Halloween weekend.

I uploaded this last night.
This is when I first got it started, It had run maybe 5 minutes without stalling. This car hasn't been started in a year and at that time it was driven to the owners funeral.
Prior to that who knows.
You can hear the baffles in the mufflers rattling. Both of them are done. I expect it was fron a hard lean backfire they aren't rusty.
