Normally yes, Today no. My job was cancelled yesterday so I am working a double to make up for yesterday. Things are really rough lately in the construction industry so I have to jump on whatever I can get my hands on.
According to stats, construction is down 25% which is what it was during the depression of the 20s.

The factory my better half works @ just posted a notice about a change in shift's and working hour's.

Come July no more 40 hour work weeks it will be 36 hours only.

They will have to work 12 hour shifts 3 day's a week then are off till the next pay period start's.

So this means no more Holiday pay as well for any of the workers.

And seeing the 3 shift work day is being done away with no more extra compensation for working on 2nd or 3rd shift's like they were doing.

And in the great State of CT you do not have to pay over time past 8 hour work shifts never had a provision made for that.

My union dictates the pay scale, holidays, and overtime pay. Union sounds great but I work for family so I see the otherside of the coin of how much money has to be paid per worker to the union. This is why we loose a lot of work to non-union haulers. Customers flinch when they hear how much it costs for a union driver for 8 hours.

But a friend of ours is about to face the same thing. Her Factory is switiching the hours and days as well and so forth.

It is set up to start the moment the Union contract renual start's so they can not say a damm thing about it!

Both of these factory's make the same products basicly but for differnt company's.
