SEATTLE -- Washington State troopers on Saturday arrested a man who was allegedly speeding across the State Route 520 bridge at more than 135 miles per hour.
Trooper Dan McDonald said Vladislav O. Orlovskii, of Bellevue, was booked into jail for investigation of DUI and reckless driving.
The incident began about 1 a.m. when a trooper spotted Orlovskii's 2008 BMW M6 speeding in the eastbound lanes of SR-520, but the BMW was still quickly pulling away when the trooper reached speeds of 130 mph.
McDonald said the trooper believed the BMW hit about 150 mph while weaving between other cars on the two-lane bridge.
The trooper slowed down when the chase became dangerous, but another trooper east of the high rise on the bridge was able to stop the BMW on the exit ramp to 84th Street in Medina.
Orlovskii was obviously impaired, McDonald said, but the man gave troopers no explanation for why he was driving so fast.
McDonald said that from the time the trooper spotted Orlovskii's vehicle to the time of stop, the BMW traveled 2.59 miles in 1 minute 8 seconds, which is an average speed of 137 mph.
Orlovskii, 24, has been cited for multiple driving infractions, including at least twice for reckless driving.
"He's just an extremely aggressive driver," McDonald said.
Orlovskii posted bail over the weekend and has not yet been charged. http://media.komonews.com/images/100323_520_speeder.jpg

I have always liked to speed on bridges, always figured they can't do radar on them. I've made 130ish on the Gold Star in New London/Groton CT, about 125 on the Nickajack, and 115 on the Chickamanga in Chattanooga. These numbers are fairly regular (anytime the bridges are somewhat empty) and affectionately called "The Bridge Blast." Object is from a 50 MPH roll see what you get at the crest, and have time enough to whoa down before the radar traps on the other end. Great fun, unless of course the reader of this is some LEO. Then, it's purely fictional.

We do a bridge blast on our way to Carlisle. It opens up to 4 lanes and hammer down til we run out of road.

Tampa-St. Pete would have a few cool options for a bridge blast.

BTW, I have made several M6 owners cry. :bigcry:

But your crazy hitting those speeds on a normal road empty or not.

BMW M6 Series are the real deal.. 150 in one of those is effortless. I always liked the M5 4 door sedan - understated - only telltale sign is the quad pipes out of the back...

Fast average speed?

500 HP 5.0 Liter V 10 with an 8,300 rpm redline will do that for you!

If the chasing LEO was in a Panther platform he was in dire need of a S/C!

i have always loved the M5's. but when i drove a 07 Mercedez Benz CL65 AMG stage 2. 720 hp 804 torque. i punched it at 20mph a little kick to the side that didnt last a 3 seconds, got vacummed into the seat and felt very predictable power.next thing i know i was doing 90mph on a 35mph zone. by the way awsome breaks.
there is a reason why they are 150k dollars.
