I've been trying to haggle on the price for an '04 Marauder and when I asked what they get for their holdback from Ford, he told me it's just over $1k. Does anyone here know if this is true? I'm pretty close to stepping up to the plate, but I also want to see what the next incentives will be starting Dec, 1st. Anyone also have any insight to this also? Thanks, Nicholas.

On the MM I'd guess $2000.00 to $2500.00??

They have "Monkeyed" the invoices around so they can sell just over invoice and still do pretty well!!

Also the holdback amount may have something to do with dealer volume??;)

I knew exactly what it was on a 1989 Blazer I bought since the dealer was a close friend....Economic conditions change and so do these programs.:(

My $.02 for what it's worth??:D

I believe it is 3% of the Dealer Invoice cost, for example if the Dealer Invoice (cost to the dealer) is $30,000, then the payment/credit the dealer will get from Ford after sale of the vehicle will be $1000.00
Sometimes all manufacturers will make payments back to the car dealers separate from any holdback or rebate to the customer directly for the dealer to use as he sees fit-cutting price/more advertising, etc. so that part is what gets confusing.
Generally if you can get 1% of the holdback plus any other rebates, etc. you are doing pretty well. Just watch any extra document fees the dealers may tag on to try to recover it.:flamer:

Yep, 3% is the holdback on Marauder.

Like Logan said 3% is typical on a lot of cars for "Holdback" some foreign cars are 2% Toyotas are really funky....Depending upon which "Invoice you see it can have the hold back in it clearly....not the "Sticker" or the "Invoice" they pull out to say "Hey you paid invoice"....but they have like a cheat sheet for each car they use for inventory...basic info on the car and base cost, sticker, destination and an actual area that says HOLDBACK, also lays out the original dealership info etc.....

I saw this when they were going to "Bring in" my blue one and I was telling them what the hold back was on the vehicle....I was off by 8 bucks using 3%......

But keep in mind that holdback is not the only "Keeper"....during a sales blitz or particular sale push...volume incentives can give percentages on "cars moved" etc....plus a car cost money to keep on the lot....the longer it sits...they can actually lose money by keeping it there....so they could technically "eat through" the holdback....Basically a black 300A made in June 2003 still on the lot is a real "loser" for the dealer.
