Johnny Maestro the singer of The Crests died just a few days ago. The group was best known for their hit song 16 Candles. The song was actually a B-Side and wasn't meant as a single. I always prefered The Angels Listened In and Trouble In Paradise.

Another Rock N' Roller gone. :bigcry:

Why couldn't the creator Autotune be dead instead? :shake:

Here's 16 Candles, you might know it from American Graffiti...

To me they are one of the few Rock N' Roll groups that ever existed. Lot's of their tunes were Doo Wop too. This sucks, I have a stronger hatred of modern music than a love for everything I missed out on.

Oh well, smash the gas for forget what year it is....

16 Candles came out in 1958. I was a high school sophmore.

My favorite Crest song is "Six Nights A Week". Wasn't one of their most popular songs, but the tune just caught me.

This is a big loss to doo wop music fans.

Thanks, Johnny.

I'm saddened to hear that. I had the pleasure of meeting him when I was younger through a friend in N. Y. I remember him being nice and quite funny . Don't forget " Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge". He was 70 when he passed from cancer. He was living in in Cape Coral Florida when he died. Thanks for posting it.
