View Full Version : Wrecked MM's

My father and I are starting a vehicle salvage/reclamation business that's going to focus on VW New Beetles. After things get going, I would like to start acquiring domestic muscle cars/sedans and doing the same.
By september, I probably will be buying at least one wrecked Marauder to part out.
Anyways, since we have a membership to these insurance claims sites, that means i get access to a ton of wrecked vehicles.
This is where it gets interesting:
- I can get VIN's from wrecked Marauder's to make the "Wrecked Marauder List" much more accurate.
- I can get the VIN's from non mm.net members also.
And here are some examples (don't cry too much)

It would be nice to have a trusted place to go to for parts and someone from here to deal with would be preferable of course.
I don't know about the others but I would hit you up for parts as I need and or want them.

All I need is a single damn power window switch. My front passenger one failed (why not? 39K miles and almost never a passenger there) and I will not pay $96 for one at the dealer.

Those front and rear bumper covers are going to be impossible to find someday, esp with the CV "conversions".

+1 BTW, what was wrong with that third one? Looks mostly intact.
Flood? Stolen recovery?

There are a bunch of flood vehicles too.
My dad realized that he wanted to do this for the New Beetles because it's hard to track down "stupid parts" (ie power side mirror button covers that the dealer wanted $29 for).
It's difficult to track down parts for late model cars (especially Marauders). Because, if they're in the junkyard, you pay alot. Or you can go to the dealer and pay out the wazoo. Or wait untill someone parts theirs out.
I see there is much interest here. So I will look into this further and may start up sooner than expected.
And I will keep you guys in the loop.
By the way, since i'm running the powder coating business, if you wanted any of the salvaged parts powder coated, that wouldn't be a problem.

As long as you can get the word out in the right places you might have a great little business going for you!
Hope you posted the VW idea on one of their site's as well?!

We are actually in the process of getting a shop. The VW and powder coating should be up and running by 1 may. Still working on building the website. But, yes, we will be posting and sponsering the multiple VW sites.
I figure, with the powdercoating, you can make a used part look brand new, and still charge used part prices. It's a good deal. Plus, for like $10 extra, I'll powdercoat it any color you want. So, if you want purple control arms, than so be it ;)

I am in MD and work for a junk yard. We currently have 2 Marauders in the yard with another on the way soon. Several members have come and bought parts from me thanks to MM.net
