View Full Version : Shot some new vids...

Now that I have 4.10s in, thought I'd shoot some new video, first basically of my exhaust in different conditions:
1EOgKPFAib8
Also got a vid of acceleration from a stop, no pre-loading on the TC:
BnioKiOdFnY
I really like 1st gear pull now with the new setup, but things seem to stop pulling so hard after around 70 or so, thinking I need to make more adjustments to the tune, besides fixing shift points to stop hitting the rev limiter...

Or on the first video I am hearing a bit of a miss fire on the first long distance run outside of the car before the drive by part?
Other wise cool video's and glad your happy with her!

I bounced off the rev limiter, I have to readjust my tune some more still. :( Basically I changed the final gear ratio setting in my 3.55 tune to 4.10, but I'm pretty sure the 4.10 tune itself is set up a little different than just the rear gear ratio. My buddy shooting the vid said it spit fuel, but I was worried it was smoke, either way I don't want that to be the norm for it shifting from 1st to 2nd.
BTW, anyone able to comment on the acceleration vid? Am I about on par, quick, or slow? It feels like I'm running out of steam above 70 for some reason, more so than with my 3.55s :(

that makes sense. 4.10s and a higher ratio then 3.55s.
4.10s will get you going quicker, but not as fast
3.55s will let you go faster but not be as quick.
boost it, then the fun begins.

True, I already suprised the hell out of a 3rd gen Camaro SS with a wicked hole-shot, but even so, 70-80 mph and it's already running out of steam?

Put her on a dyno and get it set up properly is the best thing to do and to see if there is a problem that is causing this to happen.
Cool vids, car sounds sweet. I wish I had flat open roads like that around here.

Lol, it's amazing the difference a camera mic can make, I haven't made any changes to the exhaust that, only months ago, people were saying it sounded awful and like it had glasspacks and such.
I can tell you though that that's by far the nicest road in MILES, we drove a bit just so we could have a smooth road and not have to worry about handling at speed. When you live in county territory in a rural county in Texas, they don't care very good care of the roads.
I gotta say I didn't expect this drastic a reduction in the top end feel. I'm not complaining, it feels GREAT just driving around even, and I had heard you kinda sacrifice HP for TQ with this, I just didn't expect this much.
I thought with 4:10's you'd break the tires loose on launch:confused:

04-05-2010, 06:25 PM
I kinda figured I'd do the same too, especially since I loaded the TC, doesn't seem to be the case. I don't really understand, cause I don't think my tires hook THAT good, and I know for a fact the shop put in the 4.10s cause this is definately not 3.55 pull that I'm feeling. So long as I'm putting the power I have down fully though, I'm not complaining too much, I won't waste tires plus I get a decent jump off the line for being a Marauder. :)

I was allways VERY impressed with the top end of mine when she was stock. I would blow the doors off many cars at highway speeds. That was the ONLY good thing about the car, well, besides lookin damn good....You need a dyno. Now.

Yeh I'm thinking that's the case. Not sure if I wanna do that real soon or wait until maybe I get headers cause then I'll need it for sure.
And here I was thinking the 4.10's would be the end of my modding. Lol.

You should definately brake the tires with 4:10's. I'm running 3:55's and smoke from a dead stop and brake them loose going WOT 1~2 shift. Who's tune are you using?

i think he only has two mods. tune for 3.55, and now 4.10s.
he should definately shirp 1st to 2nd gear, but not break loose outa the hole.

Lidio's tune for 3.55 with the final gear setting adjusted to 4.10, also which I've personally added timing over the base tune. In the coming days I'm gonna switch over to the base 4.10 tune and tweak it from there as I see fit. I've always had a hard time lighting up the tires in my car though, with the exception of when the tires were a little wet. If I got past about 3k rpms spinning the tires, THEN it was easy to keep them going.

wait, your rolling around with 4.10s with a 355 tune when you already have the 4.10 gear tune? FAIL!
it took me longer to type this then it would have to swap tunes.

you wll notice a big difference and driveability and throttle response.
dont mess with the timing too much without knowng what your doing.

hahaha, I made a lot of personal adjustments to the 3.55 tune for starts, and I really liked the way it drove with the 3.55, so I've been testing out to see if I could keep the same feel but have everything corrected for the new ratio by adjusting that setting. Apparently that's not the case. Any way about it, I'm writing down all the adjustments I've made to my existing tune, then switching over to the 4.10 base tune to see how it feels and go from there. Cut me slack, this is like the 4th day I've even had the car back with the new gears. :P

Cheap extra power. I spent the better part of an afternoon/evening adding one degree at a time and driving around to make sure it wasn't getting any detonation. I settled around 4-5 degrees advance over base tune, it was enough where I could feel a difference in the pull of the car, and I haven't had any problems since.

I have the stock gears and not S/C and I break the tires lose on the ground easily on a take off without trying especialy when they and the ground are cold.
Granted I am not running soft sticky tires but.

on my prevous MM i had an unlocked options too.
I went to a new and slightly taller tire just to stop it from happening, but it still didn't completely stop it. Helped tho.

The only reason i'm questioning this is because Zack posted info about his tunes and explained how to use these unlocked options and at the time he was the only one doing it. Maybe they took stock in what he said...And OH yeah... Zack tune FTW!

um arent you suppose to break in the new 4.10s first? e.g. take it easy for 500 miles? I can light up with 3.73s easily but i have a TC..
What are you running for mufflers? also i'd load the 410 tune.

Yeh, I succumbed to my baser insinct and couldn't contain myself from going fast. :(
The mufflers are Wicked Flow brand. To me the car sounds real old-school in person, haven't met a single person yet that didn't like the way the car sounds in person.

not gonna lie, it was your response to my question about that that helped me cave. 15,000 miles without trouble? Sounds like if I did have trouble it may more come down to a shoddy install rather than early on abuse. Of course now that I say this, I know what I'm probably gonna look forward to after a while...

just think about it. MOST people when they buy a brand new car have no clue how to break it in.

I have just a jlt intake, colder plugs and I break my brand new tires loose rather easy. I leave a nice skid mark everytime I take off at WOT and highway driving is remarkable on these Florida highways! I always like to get the car up to the speedlimiter a couples times a week, I also thought lidio locked his tuners that's why I'm considering j&j tuning of cape coral, fl

This video has me thinking 4:10's! But I like my highway driving and having to buy a driveshaft to go along isn't cheap exactly. What does 200 rpm translate to In mph as for how much top end it takes away from the highway bloodhound? I don't wanna be one of those guys maxing out at 140mph
The 1-2 shift sounds terrible. If it doesnt get remedied by adjusting the rev limiter, see me.
How does it feel?

Honestly, it is terrible. It has been for a long time. I think that was the car telling me my trans was on the way out, as it was like that for a while, well before the 4.10's went in. The 1-2 shift kinda...slides... between gears. I remember when I first got my SCT tuner over a year ago it would chirp into 2nd every time, but then somewhere along the line it just stopped. The tune on the vid was the 3.55 tune with the final drive ratio adjusted to 4.10, and frankly when I switched over to the 4.10 tune it actually felt worse. But to be fair, the ONLY time I got to drive the car with the 4.10 tune in place was out to pizza with three of my bros who came to an extra about 800lbs, cause the transmission failed on the way back from there.
I'm looking forward to how it's gonna feel once I get the car back from the trans rebuild, but even before leaving the shop I'm pretty sure I'm gonna readjust my tune to drop the shift pressure between shifts across the board for my own piece of mind.
Zack I think I'll talk with you about the tune fix over PM.
And Bad Merc, it's actually not a coyote, it's just a friend of mine's dog. :P I think it's a mix between blue healer and australian shepherd, if you watch closely you'll see that the dog does about three laps around the car to try and "herd" it while I do that vid.
