Just learned of a state that lasted only 4 years.

I just learned that we had a state in the 1780's that lasted only 4 years. The name of that state was Franklin. Franklin became part of Tennessee. Very interesting. Anyone else have some neat info about our states besides our current issues.

Not too long ago, there was a movement in Michigan's UP that got some serious attention for forming their own state. It would have been called "Superior" with Marquette as the capitol, IIRC.

Franklin was never formally admitted to the union as a state. :P It was never granted statehood.
