Yesterday I got back from a trip for a Navy reunion of guys I hadnt seen in 36 years and it was a blast but I decided to take my 09 Grand Marquis to see what kind of highway mileage it would get. I was amazed but averaging 73-75 mph for the 650 mile trip each way I got 27 mpg on the highway! I know I did the "cypherin" correctly and I was amazed a car that big would get such good highway mileage. That is all, over and out.

I got 26.6 MPG on a rental Grand Marquis out of Las Vegas airport. Drove it to San Diego and through the SoCal area. Had to trade it in for another GM at John Wayne airport when the "wrench" light came on indicating it needed a major service/repair. The replacement GM was nearly identical -- same year, same color, same options, and nearly the same mileage. However the 2nd GM struggled to get close to 23 MPG. Maybe CA emissions made the difference.

The 2 valve motors are a little better on gas mileage than the 4 valve motors.
I had a '92 CV that would get 24 -25 MPG at avg 75 MPH trips.
