View Full Version : Headlight cleaning...inside...HELP!

The other day I took out my bulb on my '91 Mustang and got grease and crap all over it - then put it back in. I know...I know...I should have cleaned it first! :stupid:
I had the lights on last night, and now there is a film on the inside, on the lense and reflector.
Question is...how can I clean this now?
Can I swish some dishsoap in there; baking soda and water; vinegar and water; anything?
I don't want to have to replace it or take it apart - after 18 years, they're still crystal clear.

Search for a post about separating the headlight assemblies. You'll need an oven.

Spray it inside and do a lot of shaking agitation and rinse it out a few times to see if you can clean it up.

I'd be really careful of what you put inside the headlight assemblies. The silver reflective coating is very fragile.

Well the bakingsoda and water mix did the trick. Nice and clean.
