Last week Monday I stared a job at Aaron's in Atlanta. This week is Talladega. Big doins here in the Corporate office. Shirts - hats and the like floating around.

Even turned down 4 tickets for Saturday - I had them in my hand - none available for Sunday - but plenty for Saturday. I would have taken them, but short notice and plans with the misses - damn!

The 499 and 312 have significant meaning at Aaron's.

Why do they run 499 miles on Sunday and 312 miles on Saturday?

Isn't Talladega 2.66 miles around. It's a math thing

No it's not. The 499 is designed to mimic the Aarons chain of stores to offer rentals for $99.00. The race is actually 500.1 miles in length. True the track is 2.66 miles in length.

The 312 was orginally a 500 Kilometer race, but people complained about the metric system so it was restated as a 300 mile race. The extra 12 miles were added on for advertising purposes, 3 ways to buy, 12 reasons to shop Aarons.

Way to go Pat - 499 is - everything leased "for $99 per month"

The 312 reflects the first 3 items in the Aarons 12 comandments.

1. Low price guarantee

2. 6-12-18-24 month ownership

3. everyone pre-approved

Enjoy the race.

Wikipedia is your friend. I'm a big enough NASCAR nerd that I was prepared to answer this without Wikipediaing it.

I need a life.
