It could be a FHP car. A carfax or autocheck would tell for sure. I like how he doesn't have pics of the tops of the front seats where the camera equipment was cut into the seat covers.

plus on top of that the guy states it was a detectives car. usually detectives only have lights and sirens as they are not regular patrol officers.

I doubt it, hopefully Dennis will chime in. Not to mention, there is still a few in service. I actually talked to a guy that has a blk one not to long ago who area is on the FL TPK near my house and he said that he has to turn it in at 100K and it had high 70's on it when I talked to him. He said he goes out of his way not to drive it to keep the miles down. Also there is a silver one that patrols the I 95 I 4 area, saw him not to long ago in the median. EverytimeI see him it's parked in the median waiting for that one speeder ha ha.

150,000 miles is one thing, but idling 24 hours a day and full-throttle starts all the time make this a 300,000 mile car in no time flat. That is a tired vehicle.

I think the Charger police package includes something like that.

Back on topic, lots of agencies bought these cars for undercover or detective cars. All the FHP cars were unmarked, or "Detective Cars" if you will. I think the guy who has this car was mislead and inturn is misleading. The top of the passenger seat had a camera mounted to it that was cut into the seat cover.

Are these cars this seller has listed old FHP cars? They claim "fleet-maintained". The silver one appears to have been wrecked or at least repainted. Looks like the paint on the front fender and hood doesn't match the rest of the car.

Yes, they have been auctioned off. Bunch of dealers bought them. I honestly would not touch them with a 10 foot pole. After FHP, I don't know if there is much life left in these. Also consider all the idling that these cars have done.

Quick, someone notify the Police Car Owners of America, Police Car Online Owners Association, copcar.com, etc. I'm sure some people there would love to have these, restore them, and bring them to the police car shows. God, I hope they find loving homes.

Im having doubts the cars in the ebay links are the FHP cars. The interiors dont look like they have been altered and they both have those "Cobra" emblems on them that I doubt FHP would have installed (or the red lettering inlay kit). I may be wrong but lets see more info.

I did install some lettering on a couple of cars, and all of them had seat covers instaled by the owner when he bought them, aparently two men bought all of them off the owner they called here and said they had three not running I was going to buy them, but I never heard back from them. All of the cars had the Cobra badges.

Look at the pictures of the console. You can see the hole from the mounting screws.

As others have stated, I'd pass on these Marauders due to their hard-charging past.

I don't know. They're not worth a lot right now when you can get a decent low mileage MM for not much more than these seem to be going for. But, there is a significant group of police car lover's out there that these are going to appeal to. Another 15 years or so, and one of these cars may have a significant audience at the auction. In the meantime, you could have a high-mile MM to beat the crap out of without much worry!

History doesn't mean **** when an FHP has had the the hell beat out of it. Don't forget about the Methane factor on the driver seat. This could be lethal. LOL All I know is the number of of good quality Marauders is shrinking very quickly. Gosh darn we are so lucky to have our Marauders!!!!!

History does mean ****, sir. You can throw $$$ at a car to make it good as new, but you can never throw $$$ at it to make it have history. Maybe try watching Barrett-Jackson auctions sometime and see what a worn car with "history" can get.:shake:

Good point about the methane, though!:D

My 1988 police car has been running fine. There is a fan following of restored police cars that I have gotten involved with. I go to the show in Ripon CA each year and in Indianapolis in July they are having their annual convention (I don't think I will make it to that one even though my parents would love to have me visit while I'm there). The only problem I had with my car really was the transmission did need some work about 4 years back. The engine never had any work done to it. And most of the police emblems were sandblasted off of the car so it needs new paint. But due to its age, I guess the trans and paint is eventually to be expected anyway. Who knows how many miles it has on it since the miles exceeds the mechanical display. True, I don't drive it much since I bought the Marauder about 3 years ago. But did drive the Crown Vic across country though a year before that so I think a lot of kudos needs to be given to just how durable these cars are. Although I can't afford another car, I would love to see some Marauders at the restored police car shows. Definately a piece of history that will be sought after someday.
