Nobody freak. It happened over the weekend. It was parked and was a hit-and-run. The damage is $4700 and both headlights were broken, one side marker was destroyed and the other was cracked. The fender needs replaced as does the header panel. Insurance looks at it Wednesday but I have already been chasing down and buying parts. Front bumper is obsolete but the planets aligned and I got a new OE one on eBay for $765 +shipping. I bought that and got it enroute so it won't hold up the paint. The car is driveable and I am a little upset but what can I do. I love the car but it will be fine. The damage is only high because of replacement parts cost. They're going to blend onto the hood and driver door so I am stripping everything that would generally be masked. Door handle, keypad, mirror, weather stripping... To absorb almost all of the deductible I am doing the complete re-assembly at my house after the car is out of paint and ready to be put together. This is easier to stomach than I expected! http://www.motorcitymarauders.com/forums/images/smilies/up.gif

Anger is a wasted emotion and will gain me nothing! It is what it is. Nothing in the world will change what happened. It will be fine - I still have it and that's all that counts! She will be fixed like new.

Sorry to hear about this. It would make me sick but like you say, at least it was not worse. I am glad you located that bumper. Stars were shining on you.

Remove and Installation pricing is rediculous. I recently saved 1000.00 by stripping down and reinstalling the parts on my wifes SCREW from a recent hit and run. Go for it and pocket the cash!

Sorry to see this, but glad no one was hurt except for the car. Seems like it won't take long for it to be back on the road with all the prep work you are doing. Good luck with the fix.

I have already had the front off this when I did my tranny cooler, HID's and all the other goodies. It has to be painted while apart anyway so I will put it together to reinstall all my goodies anyway. I like working on cars and get pleasure out of turning wrenches on my baby. Hopefully she will be back in my hands by the middle of next week and ready for the picnic by Friday. You can bet I will be there as long as nothing is back-ordered!

Your post, not the damage, hit & run sucks! Big time! The other car/truck whatever must have damage?

I think your above statement speaks volume's about you!

Good luck with the repairs.

FYI. if you know anyone thats an EXPERIENCED body worker, you should save the front bumper and fender. You can use that for your car or make a ton of money$$ with the spair parts. My friend is a great body worker and can fix that front bumper and fender within a couple hours. He will heat it up to pop the bumper out and and smooth out the bumper, plaster and seal those cracks. He worked on several of my cars and my friends cars. My mercury marauder rear bumper got dented hit n run worse then your front bumper. Shop would charge ATLEAST $1000 for new bumper + paint materials+labor, your looking atleast1500+. I forgot the exact cost of the new bumper. Anyways he repaired my bumper in one day and repainted it for 300 alltogether... Same thing with the 01 accord, repaired the fender, front bumper, hood, and saved a ton of money and you wouldve never known it was damaged.

I took everything off and sent to a shop that I trust with my life. The front fender was not repairable. A LKQ fender was put on and a new header panel. The damage looks minimal but it DID move the bumper cover cover to the right and actually broke BOTH headlights and messed up the hood alignment. It cracked the side marker on the right, too. The bumper retails for $1400 and I scored one on eBay for $765. The headlights and side markers altogether were just shy of $700. The paint is done and the transition from panel to panel with blending and clearcoat was invisible AND I EVEN KNEW WHERE TO LOOK! I get her back today and have to re-install my tranny cooler, HID's, foglamps.... All the driver door trim goes on and the bumper and front fascia will be done and I will be at the picnic!!

To remove the trim you MUST remove the door glass, run channel and side mirrors. The trim rivets on. I would not try to paint the chrome. Get blackout tape and do it on the car.

I would feel like a third-degree idiot driving my '06 Taurus up there. I would feel worse bringing a Marauder clone. I abbreviated this whole process by buying all the parts out-of-pocket before the insurance even looked at it. I was on a mission to bring this even if it came on my wrecker!

Guys, this paint is like glass. The blend is invisible and there is not a molecule of overspray. I know where they painted and even I can't find the evidence! I am putting her back together all of today. I will add some pics later this evening.

She is 100%!! It was too late for pics but she looks like she did before the accident. Anyone at the picnic is more than welcome to try and find anything that tells the tale. I tore it all down, took it to the body shop and put it all together after the paint and clear was done. There are only a few people I trust to assemble it - and body shops are not one of them.

No prob Kevin - if you're gonna take your plugs out or check their tightness. Do it on a COLD motor. Spray a stream of WD40 down the bores and let it sit awhile. A gentle turn will twist them out. Use anti-seize and follow torque specs putting them back! I hope you find your tapping sound.

This thread is giving me the idea of baking my corner lamps in the oven, and removing the yellow reflector..
