Okay guys, I just talked to the Mayor of Chicago Hts. today and he indicated the car show and burnout contest has been rescheduled for Saturday, July 3rd this year!
They will have the car show and burnout contest and then around 9:00 pm will be the annual fourth of July fireworks show. I wanted to give everyone as much notice as possible as they switched this from Labor day weekend.
This will be a great time as they normally get about 300 cars to show up for the car show and more that run down the 1/8 mile they set up. If you want to see what kind of show it is just go on Youtube and put in Chicago Heights Burnout contest and you will see alot of different cars running. I am hoping to enter 1 Bad Merc in the burnout contest this year and give a good showing for the Marauders.
If you need confirmation on how many cars come and how nice/nasty some of these cars are just ask Justbob, Dom and the Da Dark Jedi.
I will be putting together a list/directions as we get closer to this event and if we get enough cars I am sure I can get us a special parking space for our Marauders.
I hope to see alot of Marauders there this year.

How do I sign up for the burnout contest? I have been saving tires just for this event.

05-18-2010, 11:43 PM
No problem with signing up. I believe their is a $25 fee (goes towards the trophy's), must have a valid insurance card, valid drivers license and they give you a small handout. They take registrations the day of the event -last year around 12 noon time.

How many turns do we get?
1 Bad Merc
05-18-2010, 11:47 PM
They usually host two sessions of runs/burnouts from 3-5pm and then they did a second session from 6-8pm. I believe it's as many runs as you can get in. I saw people do 3-4 runs in one of the sessions last year.

I might need donor rims from someone. I'll have 2 sets of tires to roast by then, but only one set of rims to take on and off for the contest.
Any takers please fill me in!

I will get my header dumpers installed too. I don't care if I go less than broke. I didn't know I could actually win. I would almost bet money I'll have this in the bag.

People were on the cell telling other folks "Man, get in your car and just come"! I think this will be Bigger that last year. Forgot to mention this is also a family event so bring the kids. This isn't a car show but an event.

I might need someone to video tape this for me. It's worth a post here and just something to keep around too.
Zack should come out to this one! Abdul too, but let's keep him behind the camera. ;)

Far freaking out....I am gonna be just up the road later that day getting married of all things(to the lovely leggy lady in my signature thingy).
hmmmm.... arriving late at your wedding smelling like bleach, burnt rubber and covered in the debris of disintegrated tires... thinking this sounds like a darwin awards possibility

so who knows the recipe for soaking your tires in colored stuff so the burnout smoke is green or red or?
1 Bad Merc
05-22-2010, 12:15 AM
The only thing that I have seen is on Youtube and it is a company that has tires with the colors molded into the rubber. Very expensive for a pair of them as I looked:)
Da Dark Jedi not sure about the meeting point yet but when I get a count in early/mid June we will figure it out. Fireworks later that night are usually real good also!
Cant wait to go this year as I have been hearing that they are taking more cars as the parking lot where the carnival was will be opened up to everyone this year. Should be a primo event.

Do we win anything else besides a trophy? I'm fine with it, but I think half of these events award tires. Just curious. Any info?

I only saw trophy's handed out last year but that was for the car show. Not sure what the winner of the burnout contest gets. I will try and check into that and let you know.

I'll put in for the same spot we had last year. The grass spot by Bloom Township HS. We had 6 Marauders there and 2 other cars. That location was prime, lets get that spot.

Besides after October nobody will see me for a some time, including my wife. I will be living at work. The 2011 Explorer is launched and will be experiencing massive overtime, both forced and voluntary.

I'll try and make this event, although I'm going to have to pass on the burnout contest. I'd love to enter, but having a set of tires or two for roasting is not likely to happen (I need the current ones to last me a least until next summer). I definitely want to be there to see it, though!

The McDonalds I'm hoping to meet is on Hasted St. When you exit Bishop ford Exp ( I-94) go west on ( I-80, I-94 ) you exit on Halsted SB. When you exit on Halsted there's a toll (.30 ) and 2-3 miles there's Mc Donalds on your left at the light. I'm hoping for the same spot as last year on the grass in front of Bloom Township H.S. Brad should be posting soon.

Hi Everyone- I finally have the info and the schedule is as follows -
meet at the McDonalds at around 211th an Halsted. It is right on the corner of Halsted and Volmer road in Chicago Heights -Let's shoot between 11-11:30 AM.
11:30 we cruise together to the car show and burnout contest for registration. This is a large event and we need to cruise in together if we want to park together. No one will gurantee anything this year as last year it was so large but I am going to try and have one of the guys I know save us the spot we had last year by the high school. If we all come at once I dont see a problem. If you are going to be late just let us know and we can try to save a spot or two.
Registration is a $15 fee. This is for the car show and I dont know if it is extra for the burnout contest. Might want to bring a couple of extra dollars just in case. I know if you are going to do the burnout contest your car has to have valid plates, show proof of insurance and you need a valid DL. They are very picky about these items and the police do check!
12-2PM-Registration
1:30 Pm-First session of burnouts/holeshots
3 PM-Car Show awards presentations
4-6 PM-Last session of Burnouts/holeshots and I believe the burnout trophy is awarded right after.
9 Pm-Fireworks display
This is an awesome event and last year they had about 400 cars so it is very large. Bring some chairs/coolers/drinks etc. as it is a long day. If you are not on the list and you are coming to the event please reply to this post. The list I have from my memory so far is as follows:
1. Da Dark Jedi
2. UAW 588
3. JustBob
4. Motorhead 350
5. 1 Bad Merc
6. Ledzilla

Brad, talked to John today and they are trying to keep all the cars that will be in burnout on the south end so they don't have to deal with cars passing thru people on the street. Might cause problems for you guys being at same spot. I think they will mark the cars with a B!
For those who have not been there where you do your burnout their is a road (Holeshot) that the cars run down pretty close to a quarter mile which gives a almost strip effect. "ONLY" Single car at a time. So no burnout? Fine take a run down the track instead.
Brad the Mayor heard Za-- might come so there will be extra police on hand just in case.
Ah don't be late or you'll be parking waaaaaaay out!
