former MM owner, now fitment fanatic here and from time to time i still catch myself dreaming about owning another Marauder... so i was wondering, are any of you or do you know of anyone into this style? since search yeilded no results, im on the hunt for pictures of Mercury Marauders that are either lowered and/or fitted with flush wheels (offset fitment). heres some examples of the extreme version of what im looking for (low & flush) AKA hellaflush...

i know, i know... imports. theyre not exactly a hot topic around here, but this style doesnt have to always be imports, extreme camber and super low (VW and Audi above have very little, if any, negative camber). im all about moderation! i was just hoping to see anything close to these wheel/suspension setups. thanks for your time.

I know the flames are coming, but I always thought about bagging a marauder and giving it that slammed look, but I wouldn't do that to a marauder. I have yet to see a set of rims on a marauder that look better than OEM rims...

i agree, the OEM wheels look so great on the Marauder.

Throw up a good picture of some rims you would consider, I believe we have some members on here that can photoshop this look for you.

none that i've seen. getting a flush setup would require some work on these cars.

I would love to see some 20 inch Marauder replica wheels I think it would look really good. I can't remember how has the 20 inch Bullet replica wheels (IIRC GMtech) they fill the wheel wells nicely

I really don't think that style would be well-suited for the Marauder...but if someone would like to Photoshop it anyway, maybe I'll eat those words.

Just get some custom springs and some HRE's and you will be set with your MM.

As for hellaflush, i am not sure how it would work out with the MM. What I do not like is that it is not a performance gain most of the time and puts off wear on the tire due to camber settings.

And I am an import guy. On the other thand, when done right with great wheels, coil overs and tires you can in fact gain a lot of performance and have a great looking car.

However i will draw the line with a hellaflush look when if you start putting extra plastic fenders on your MM and stretch your tires :P (think super street, for those who read it)

Here is a car done at boost logic that I believe finds a good balance:

and it has the 1200rwhp motor to back it up :)

BTW, it's hard to pull off with a straight axle. The independent suspensions keep the wheels from extreme tucking on uneven surfaces where on a straight axle, if one rear wheel takes a major dip (think up incline from flat on an angle) the opposite wheel tucks like mad and scrapes. IRS doesn't do that.

It is a chop. ^^

Now I think you you all misunderstand me. Im not a staightline guy. Auto x and trackdays are my heaven. I do intend on picking up a marauder soon and I am looking for a performance set up. not the extreme negative camber look. just no wheel well gap and a wide stance on the wheels. I think if I got it done I could change alot of minds. Or at the very least have you say, meh to each their own.

I like the 'flush' rim look on most cars.

I just don't get the 10" wide rim with a P225 tire s-t-r-e-t-c-h-e-d over it....:dunno:
The VW guys seem to love that retarded look.
(The Audi pictured has that retarded look, the VW pictured just has rubber bands on the rims..)
Talk about a rim scraper deluxe!....:shake:

That is the only time my Nitto 295s rub - turning up my driveway at an angle to keep from draggin the front or back. Guess I should swap the IRS out of the Terminator with the MM axle... Has anyone tried that?

is there any performance to be gained from this "hella flush" movement? or is it all people that like to show their cars rather than use them?

Who would be victorious? Stretched tires vs fenders... hmmm?

You asked for it....
http://www.mercurymarauder.net/gallery/data/3/Marauderlowtint.jpghaha! thats a little extreme, dont you think? theres a nice middle ground to the low and stanced look that you dont see very often. see my car (below) i bought and modded after selling the Marauder. i didnt mean to erupt a hate brigade on this trendy style, but believe me, you can pull it off perfectly if you exercise some moderation.

Your worst nightmaresurprisingly, you CAN take that driveway with a low car, you just have to come at it completely sideways. definitely a nightmare though lol

Who would be victorious? Stretched tires vs fenders... hmmm?not really. its more of a look than anything. if you go too extreme with the fitment and lowness, your handling will suffer though. on the other hand, a moderate flush with a nice drop doesnt harm the suspension geometry too much. the people who go to the extremes usually feel that; form > function.

But this is just plain FKN wicked man. I'd love to have 2 - one like this and the other stock. NOT a fan of rubber bands for all the aforementioned reasons. I love looking at them but never would have a car with lo pros.
