I would say NO. Looking at the video on CBS of the preview they are in a black 2010-11 Mustang, Seen in the first seconds of it from the inside, then about the 23 second mark you see it drive up (just the fender and wheel).

Yup seen that as well. Looks like the Mustang will get a lot of exposure. It really needs to be a Big Black Mercury though...

I did notice one cop car in a scene was a newer marquis, and another was an aero vic.

That would be awesome, but it's only a cameo. Oh well, at least his new ride is a Ford and not a Camaro or something stupid.

Hey Takedown...

I would kill to do that!

Did anybody watch last night? I did. They did a little homage to the original show when he was checking out his dad's big black Merc GM under the cover in the garage. I thought that part was pretty cool.

I know there's a lot of Battlestar Galactica fans that have to be happy with the little Asian toaster chick on H50! It certainly doesn't make me angry.

Yes when he pulled the cover off dad's merc I thought to myself "Ok that will his ride down the road"

Time will tell, all & all I liked it!

I think they will bring his dad's car back in service.

A big black mean sounding MM would be awesome but i suppose there is no money to be made there.

If the mustang is the main new ride does ford pay cash for that exposure?
Perhaps they just supply the cars.

Actually its just Mercury Marquis, it was made so far back that it hadn't earned the "Grand" title yet, but yeah, glad to see that the Mercury made an appearance in the first episode. Knew it would be coming though (http://jalopnik.com/5543778/first-photo-of-hawaii-5+0-car-from-remake-set)

And yeah wooo, boomer! All I could say was hell yeah when I saw her walking out of the surf.

But I'm somewhat glad that the MM isn't in there, maybe as a stand in, but not as the main reoccurring car. Just think of the market for our MMs getting snapped up and how many would be trashed in stunts. They used dozens of 58 Plymouths when they made Christine, just imagine how many a series would go through!

I saw it and thought it was a great show.....hopefully it will last....unlike KnightRider.

Where did you hear that they would be using a Marauder?

There was an article today in the USA Today. See bottom of page on this link (http://www.usatoday.com/printedition/money/20100921/driveon21_st.art.htm).

I think it would be cool if they used an 03 or 04 Marauder. Maybe if a bunch of people emailed the would consider it.

'Hawaii Five-0' Mercury
When the new Hawaii Five-O began on CBS last night and the new Steve McGarrett dusted off his dad's 1974 Mercury Marquis — that was the actual sedan used in the original series.
Cars played a big role in the 1970s original, with Jack Lord, as Steve McGarrett, wheeling around Oahu in Mercurys as crime-cracking head of an elite state police unit in Hawaii.
This Marquis was Lord's second black Merc in the show, replacing a 1968 Parklane Brougham. Producers borrowed the car for the new series from owner John Nordlum, a stunt man who was given the car when the series ended.
The new McGarrett, played by Alex O'Loughlin, is a Navy vet whose father was killed.
"A lot of things in the new show pay homage to the original. It was a great show of its time, (but) it's 2010," O'Loughlin told USA TODAY's Bill Keveney.

Exactly. TV shows are made for profit. Entertainment comes last.

I watched it off the dvr last night and liked it. Will stick with it I guess. I thought they should use a new black Mercury.A bit of trivia, McGarrets last black Mercury used on the show still exists and is being driven. One of the guys who worked on the set has it.

I totally agree. I don't mind seeing a pointless CV wasted every once and a while, but never an MM. That's just sin.

That car is the one used in the new show that got a minute of show time in the garage during the episode.

Anyone notice the TERRIBLE continuity of the cars when they were showing them driving up on the boat? Started as a newer GM, then switched to a 92ish CV when they were on the ramp and then back to the GM when they were on the boat.

I was just gonna post the same thing, just watched it. The 09ish GM floors it up to the ramp, then its majically an areo body CV, then when it stops and the back of the cars shown its a 09ish GM again. I guess they didnt want to wreck a new one, but come on, they look very differant

It's all about how cheap they can make the program. Profit profit profit.

I say keep up the tradition and use an 03-04 MARAUDER, and use a stunt version MM clone. LOL, they just can't have mine... maybe they'll just use Local Boy's!

In Hawaii Id say 85% of the police cars are unmarked cars that the officer buys himself (and gets compensation for). There are very few marked HPD cars. The first time I lived there I remember all the police were driving 68 hemi Chargers, Road Runners and Super Bees. The only thing they had was the single blue light on the roof.

the way I have heard on series shows if the exposure is heavy the manufacter pays (sponsor) but other wise it is just a doaner car.

I'd say Gen. Motors is the paying sponser...
Steve drives a Silverado
Dan drives the Camaro
and Kono drives a Cruze.

It's not the chase scene, it's afterwards when they arrive on the crime scene, walking up to the flipped mustang, you see it to the right side of the screen.

You heard wrong. :( I've been in the industry for 14 years, and any new cars are LOANED to the shows for free, the factory retains rights of ownership and salvage. Now if you go out and buy a 2 year old Denali and smash it up, it's all yours to do. Many time I've rented a new vehicle from a fleet manager, and bought 3 or 4 duplicates that are salvage titles or rough runners. Unless the car is a brand new model, you can always find beaters or high mileage runners to use.

Companies never pay for us to use their product, they either loan it or give it. Not for Props dept, Transport dept, Set Dec dept or Wardrobe Dept. For reference, my last few big shows were Watchmen, 2012, Fringe and Stargate series and a few others. Big Year (Steve Martin/Owen Wilson), This Means War(Reese Witherspoon) and The Grey(Liam Neeson)are all in the can for next year. (I know the drill very well.)

There may be exeptions, but I've never seen any in all my time since the X-Files til today.

Finally, something that might pay appropriate tribute to this FANTASTIC car.

Maybe MM's stock will go up!

I've read all of the posts to the contrary but hope that a MM will be used in something that shows its greatness (and we can see some mint/low mileage MMs getting the prices that they deserve)!
