there's a new Asus netbook that just came out with a dual core processor. aside from that the Toshiba netbook that we carry at best buy has 11 hours and 5 minutes of battery life. i'd steer clear of the dell netbook, but the Asus eePc (single Atom processor) and Toshiba Netbooks are both pretty good prices. And last week anyway Best buy had the Asus eePc on sale (1gb RAM, Intel Atom processor, 160gb HD) for $299.99 :D

I just acquired an Acer Aspire One.

1.6GHZ processor
2GB RAM
160GB hard drive
Windows XP Professional
Built in camera
10 inch screen

Nice little system for websurfing, email, etc.

I bought an HP netbook for my wife fr a recnet trip she took with her parents. I think I purchased from walmart dot com. Decent HP win 7 netbook for just under 300. It has what I suspect is a linux partition for a special "fast boot" for basic functions such as web and email if you don't wish to wait for windows 7 to boot up.

Dave just shoot to bestbuy you will find something in your range. I would stay with HP/Toshiba/Dell acer and asus are your "value" brands. Get the most memory, CPU, he'd you could afford. Lastly video/dvdrw w/lightscribe.

Latest offerings from AMD and intel dual core minimum. Oh and windows 7 is the way to go! Vista=fail!

Good luck happy shopping.

I say get a regular laptop, not too big. You'll miss some features w/ a netbook
