Good 'ol Motorcraft 850 CCA from LM is $126

Ok thanks guys. I don't think I need 1000cca's Fordnut, but thanks.

I wonder if I can go faster at WOT with a new battery? (re: alt shuts off at WOT)

More CCA's should give you more reserve power too, but since you don't need it...
BTW, I got it at Pep Boys about 4 years ago

Get a Motorcraft. Optimas are pain especially if they fully drain. You have to have a special charger or hook another battery up to the dead one so that the voltage is high enough for the charger to regonize there is a battery hooked to it.

I'm still running the original Motorcraft battery that my Marauder came with in 2003. I guess I'll replace it with another Motorcraft when this one finally gives up. ;)

(For those of you calling BS on this story, I would too if I hadn't bought the car new off of the local L-M lot.)

In the old days I would say an Optima, but their quality has goine down in my opinion.

Lately, I go to O'Really's and get what is on the shelf and have had no problem.

Am I the only one here with a Die-Hard?

my battery light comes on periodically and i was thinking about getting a die hard, Die Hard Platinum series. they cost (if not as much, just a little bit more than the optimas) ive heard good things about them.
might purchase one

In 2005, I bought a top of the line NAPA battery. Got a deal as my son was working there at that time. Nary a problem in 5 years.

I'm still running the original battery on my 03. The battery is still doing well. Every winter I leave the battery on tender.. (charge ... trickle)

Both OEM Ford and aftermarket Motorcraft batteries are made by Johnson Controls, which also owns Optima.

We use a LOT of Johnson Controls batteries in my line of work (telecom) so I would go for the Motorcraft.
