Clicking Noise?

Ok I have my 04 marauder and lately when I turn the steering wheel back and forth just a little only about 3 or 4 inches left or right when I am sitting still I can hear a distinctive clicking but only if moving the wheel but not if I hold it to the left or right. I put my hand directly onto the steering rack and had my friend turn the wheel well I can hear it right there and can feel something in the rack every time it clicks it like pops some on the inside of the rack.
So I am thinking I need a new rack does that sound right to every one's consensus? Thanks!:banana:

Sound and the feel of somthing like that can be easily transmitted through the rack so make sure you also hold your hand on the outer tirod links to hear and feel if it is stronger feel or louder comming from that area first.

Did you hit a curb or anything that might have cracked the brass worm gear inside of the rack?
