My Eibachs got here , my dad sees them and flips a royal biotch, Hes giving me this **** that it completely ruins the vehicle and makes it undrivable under any condition. I know that the alignment specs have to change , more neg camber is neede dto correct for the lower stance. but i was going to have this **** aligned after the install. WTF. I printed off and read him article about it from this site, all the problems people experienced and how great they were when the problems were fixed. WTF. has anyone that had these a while (i.e. Logan) had any problems.

Hey LV ,.. I've heard nothing bad about the Eibachs. I'm considering getting them myself.

Just make sure you lower the back an inch! or your ride will be kinda floaty! Someone here forgot to do that. I won't mention his name for fear of my account being deleted!

HMMMMM seems like some one stated all this months ago, I hate them they ruin the ride as well as the alignment, I am working with another company now but its months away before I will have a trial set.

So tell us sir, in what way will your springs not do what the Eibachs supposedly do and why are you the only one ( other than my father) so spoken against this.

hey LVMarauder,

Here is the name of the alignment shop that did my alignment after I dropped my Mustang 2 inches. They also installed caster camber plates. They'll be able to align your car right after you install the springs.

George's Alignment & Brake Service
3349 Meade Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89102
(702) 876-1299

The guys who can put your springs in are:

Skips Spring Service
5310 Procyon Street, Las Vegas, NV 89118
(702) 261-9917

While I am looking in the phone book, whoever needed that bolt for their headlight can get it at:

Mcfadden-Dale Industrial Hardware
4477 West Reno Avenue, Las Vegas, NV 89118
(702) 251-8059

Dennis,

Did you adjust your rear ride height after you installed the springs? It seems a few people didn't like the springs until they lowered their back end.

Your a life saver. And it was me about my headlights. Ill swing over there tomrrow. Thanks for looking that stuff up for me.

Do NOT get it aligned immediately after the new springs go on! They will sag and you'll have to do it again. Wait at least 2 weeks then have it aligned.

I bought Hotchkis springs because of the complaints of the excessive sag of Eibachs over time, ie. in a year or two they're either shot or much lower than desired.

BTW, although they do look nice, going too low does change the ride by making it more springy and somewhat rougher. However, if you only lower it about an inch the it's not that rough, or so it was with my Impala.

Key to the eibachs' is properly setting the rear ride height, the handling is very sensitive to the rear ride height.

I have them on and have had for a while now and the ride is just fine. Though if someone delivers a Progressive rate drop spring, I'll be the first to swap out to them.

Well I'm glad that's resolved:P....now for the father problem...that WAS part of the problem as it seemed, yes?

Well if your dad is too pissed off I won't even charge you to take the springs off your hands. =)

Ya Don, unfortunately it might come to that. He's going on yet another road trip to K.C. , Idaho , and Wisconsin, so i can either but them on and deal with the consequences or get rid of them.

Eibach springs on a Marauder paired with Dennis' swaybar are the PERFECT combination for taking this car which already handles well to a car that handles GREAT.

I've got about 10K clicks with mine and love them.

However, they're not for anyone who wants to "float"....

Ask several of the folks here who've driven my car....

I thought that the Eibach's were progressive rate springs? Why would progressive rate drop springs be more desirable than the linear ones if the Eibach's are linear?

LVMarauder, although i'm a strong fan of the fact you should honor your mother or thy father, maybe you should put them on while they are gone, have a correct alignment done, and see if they notice. If they do notice, maybe you can take him for a spin on a nice twisty road?

im starting to feel the same way, someone said dont do the alignment right away which i technically dont get.

Springs can take a while to settle in after you install them, but the optimal thing would be to align it right after you install them, and align them again maybe 5000 miles later. If you don't align them right away, you will never believe how quickly you can ruin a good set of tires. Right now, these tires are on sale at tirerack for $88 each, but normally they are not that cheap.

Dude, my 19-year old would be walking if he tried pulling something like that on my ride. Luckily, he did it to his own ride instead. ('98 2wd Frontier, looks better lowered, but rides like a$$.) Why not let your dad decide what happens to his MM?
Sometimes, it's best to back off. Even if the ride/handle is improved, he's still going to hate the mod you did to his car. At some point, it's going to end up costing you something, if you pi$$ off the old man one time too many.

Cruz, are you advocating LVM getting drunk and arming himself with a bat?

Mike (who would welcome his kid getting his MM Zacked or Reinharted, for the most part, however) Peace out.

Clarification:

MTNH and LV: I must have read through the post too quickly...I got the impression that LV was doing this mod to HIS OWN car, is it my new understanding that it's actually HIS FATHERS car?

Big difference if so....I could never convince my father of anything I felt was a good idea unless I got him loaded with old grand-dad and gave HIM a bat to make him feel invincable and superior...kinda like flattery for a tough guy! Although there were times HE needed a swift crack to the back of legs:P

If it's daddys car, respect his wishes and let it be. If it's yours, stand up for what you believe and do it. But do it right.

As far as the Eibach mod, every car I rode in with this setup felt great to me, and very resposive.

hey mtnh what the **** are you talking about. I OWN THE MARAUDER. IT IS MY VEHICLE. what gave you the impression that it was his car. he's just yelling at me cuz he has nothing else to do. Im doing the springs anyway. Im going to love this mod im going to do to MY car. and getting drunk with a bat?? someone had a troubled childhood lol.
I will get it done cruz .

Im calling Skips in about 30 seconds and then georges to see the what it costs and what time i can get it done. Ill put up a pic of what they look like too. If all goes well it will be by friday =)

I thought it was dads car too.........
As for the new springs settling, yea they do a little.
I've found if you have the shop set the CAMBER to the POSITIVE limit they will be just right in about 2000-3000 miles and will not hurt the tires.

I knew this would happen as it always does. He said I can put them in because he has no real reason for me not to. Once again logic and common sense prevail. So ill swing by skips tomrrow cuz i got lots of ****zy goin on today. He said 150 on the phone but also noted he would have to take a look at the vehicle and springs . Does that sound right for swapping front springs? lmk.

That's about right...it's a LOT of work. The whole "strut-tower" has to be removed and the springs (OEMs) taken off with a press. It's a little more involved than a Mustang spring swap.

I'd say that $150 is more than a fair price to put in the springs. That shop does good work. You'll like them.

LVMarauder, just curious, Is the main reason for changing springs to enhance handling or to lower the appearance of your MM. Thanks for your time and happy Thanksgiving! Mike(akaRedMM)

Hey, if your dealer says the springs won't void the warranty on the suspension components being affected, then that's awesome! Some dealers are a lot more mod friendly than others and it's great. However, if there is a warranty issue that pops up, sometimes the dealership does have to get authorization from Ford before performing the warranty work, not to mention dealers do get audited by Ford every now and then which would make it a grey area. Anytime your lower or raise your vehicle, it does affect the geometry of the suspension which now is no longer at the factory settings. Since your dealer has told you that it will not void the warranty, it's probably also best to keep quiet about it as i'm pretty sure Ford has their drones going around on websites and recording information about people. I know for a fact Land Rover does because when several people have had warranty issues on the old Land Rover board I was on before this, they were confronted with numerous pages of printouts from the forum that the Land Rover rep had printed out in order to justify denying the warranty claim.
