View Full Version : Interior Paint Discontinued :-(
PM-19M547-4149H has been discontinued for a while now from FORD.
(Dark Charcoal Grey)
Has anyone found a similar replacement shade in a rattle can?

Zack, check with LoTek in Durham N.C.
They just did the triple gauge pods for our A-pillars and they spray painted them the matching Dark Charcoal color.

I have a can of Motorcraft Interior Spray Paint "Midnight Black" which I used to spray my kickpanels with when I dyed them. It's a pretty close match.

Zack -the paint that Ford shows for our interior did not really match very well. Not sure if the batch was wrong or what. I know I searched through a couple of different colors to get one that was almost a perfect match as I was painting my gauge pod. I will check tonight and let you know the color we found that matched.

Thanks. I matched a pod perfectly years ago with a grey base and a black haze over the top.. Who can remember what I used though.

There are dealers around the country that have this on the shelf. The closest one to you, Zack, is Evans Ford Mercury in Carrolton, IL.

HI Roy,
I have bought that paint # from Ford before and it does not match our interiors. It is really dark and it is off. I grabbed some extra interior pieces out of a wrecked cv and praticed on them and this paint did not match up well. I found some other paint that is almost a perfect match and I will post it up tonight.

There is a guy in Bridgeview, IL that was able to get the interior paint for my vic when i needed it, as well as exterior when no body shop could (I had my front lower bumper resprayed and planned on having other paint matched parts and apparently it was a rare color).....
But anyway, the place is called
Harlem Auto Parts & Paint
7337 West 87th St.
Bridgeview, IL 60455
708-598-1818
Might be worth a try.... I know he puts stuff in cans.

I just thought I could help a friend and member here get what he wanted, regardless of the outcome. If you have a Ford part number, let me know And I'll see if there are dealers that have it available.
Thanks everyone.
I know I can have some paint mixed up and have a shop locally to do it...just dont want to spend the coin they are gonna charge.
...and thanks Brian, Im aware of the parts locator system and may use it to my advantage.

If you ever want GREAT service and decent prices, then try this company ^^. They are the only ones that I will deal with. I have bought complete paint materials for inside and outside of cars, shop supplies, weld supplies, and buffing/finishing materials. A+ customer service. Justbob approved:up:

Because the paint can is in my father's garage and I did not want to wake him up at 1 am in the morning. I called my dad in the am and he is going to give me the number at lunch time.

I guess I am not in the mood today...we tried about 6-8 different paints (including 3 Ford Colors) and we actually found a can of Dupli-color Sandable Primer that matches perfectly. It even has the right sheen that matches our interior. Obviously you do not sand it :) The number is DAP 1692 Gray Hot Rod Primer. We got it at Reilly's autoparts but it's Dupli-color so another auto parts store should have it. Hope this helps.
Thanks Brad.
I just sprayed the first coat of the SEM Graphite 15303 and its damn near identical.

You should see how fast he eats..........He can do the broiled chicken in mid 11's at three chomps per second! I'd hate to be Becky though....... I've seen him asleep at the tree, and snap his mechanicals on launch, but atleast he didn't spill his lube. I'm not sayin, i'm Just sayin. :)

I really believe the many different paint batches is what throws the color off. It also depends on when they made it, humidity, etc., etc. I tried 3 different Ford colors and none of them worked for me. Now someone could have a Ford can from a different paint batch and it matches really well. It is mostly trial and error. That's why I went to the junkyard and found an 03 CV and took some of the interior trim pieces out to test paint the color first and then see if it matched up in the Marauder. That would be my advice to anyone who is painting trim peices. Get some extras and paint to make sure the color matches.

Body & trim parts are disappearing as fast as we speak. Our Marauders are getting old!!! Five years from now we will be in a pickle for this stuff. Electronic components not so bad. A friend of mine runs a body shop & he buys wrecks & resells them. Paul bought a 2009 Denali that had a minor dash fire from the insurance company. Get this... he needs 3 dash harnesses to finish the repair... Generous Motors does not carry parts to fix this vehicle... talk about abandonment... My friend is out 17 grand unless he can source an identical 09 Denali. This is a crime that a company can screw people this way.

Old thread but BUMP! Still curious if another Dark Charcoal color has been shown to match? My window control area has a few marks from jewelry and I'd like to restore it. I really don't want to source Dr. Vinyl for such a small fix every time there's a flaw.
