I am having Ipod issues. I have the classic 5th generation. I attempted to synch it today with Itunes and it would not synch. The screen on the Ipod said it was connected and did not show that my Ipod was not connected in Itunes. I did get some warning signs about files missing or something. It would also freeze Itunes and my computer. I would end up having to shut the compueter down or just unplug it. I have tried rebooting the Ipod many times and tried to remove everthing off the Ipod when I put it into disk mode but then it woould freeze everything again. I did try plugging in my wifes Ipod. Same exact model. And hers works perfect.:mad::mad:

Any Ipod techies in here that can help? Please!! PLEASE!!PLEASE!!!

In the name of CBT help me!!

Reset the iPod, or restore it and reload your library.

Goto the add/ delete program on your computer in the control panel, find the apple software and remove it, do a shut down (not a restart) then turn the pc back on, goto apple.com/downloads and get the newest software, re-install it, then try to sync the ipod again. if it dos'nt re-sync then do a hard reset on the ipod, then try the re-sync again. You may loose the music files on the ipod after resetting it.
Good Luck!

I can help!
Step 1.) Put the i-pod in one hand.
Step 2.) Choke yourself with the other hand.
What did I win? :D

Your Ipod has not been updated with the latest software.
1) Throw Ipod against wall
2) Drink Beer
3) Go to preferred porn site (I'd write one but Mary probably wouldn't be happy)
4) Play your favorite self instrument
5) Go to sleep, it will be better in the morning
6) you have completed download of Joe.6, you must restart your computer for changes to take effect

I tried the the hard reset many times today. Even though my wifes Ipod works just fine on this computer and Itunes. Do you think I should remove Itunes and reload it? If I do remove Itunes where should I save all our music? Could I just rely on my wifes Ipod for all our music since they are both the same? Where and how should I save our music?

I saved mine to a couple cd's. You can also save to a flashdrive or an external hard drive. I only have around 14 gigs and it all fit on just over two cd's. Have you tried to run updates to the Ipod thru itunes yet?

If you have the amount of music I do, I would suggest a nice DVD burn sofware.
I can back up my library with DVD's in about 2 hours over 8 discs.

I have two of those 5th gens with video.

It was my 1st gen HP special that will occationally lock up.

It's obvious you have an issue with that unit if the others are syncing up nicely.

iPods with hard drives will 'lockup' from time to time. A small drop while it's running will do this everytime.
Sometimes it takes awhile to 'wake' up again.

I'd let it sit. If it doesn't come back to life, there is always the web company http://www.iresq.com/. I have used them several times.
Great bunch of guys (kids that started their company from their basement years ago), and do a quick and tidy turn around on repairs.

Good luck!

This is one variable you did'nt include when I posted. You may have to revert the Ipod to it's original state (you will loose all files) then reload the newest software from apple. If the wife's is working fine then keep the PC as it is. As far as saving the files you got a few options CD, Zip, covert them to windows media files, or just back them up to the C drive
