hey guys, have another question for anybody who can help.
when im driving, in 3rd gear, or also in overdrive, i can be cruising around 40mph and it will be in od, around 1250rpm, if i give it about 1/8 throttle, to have a slight acceleration, the car seems to stumble a little bit, and doesnt really want to go faster. it usually happens around 40mph, however ive had it happen around 60mph, and even at lower speeds, like 35mph or so in 3rd gear. i originally thought it was the spark plugs, changed them, still happens. my mechanic/friend told me to clean out the air intake with some carb cleaner untill it was shiney, did that, still happening. my only other thought is maybe the fuel filter, which ill replace tommorow when its daylight. if that doesn't help, what do you guys think it is? or is this normal for the mm. im not too familiar with the motor or tranny in this car(or any to be completely honest), im pretty much a preventative maintenance mechanic...oil changes...spark plugs..etc, so any advice please try to be as specific as possible, because if you tell me its a muffler bearing, or a kinibler valve, ill go to the store and ask for one:lol:not really, but you get the jist. thanks guys--whitey

stock everything, i bought it off of the original owner who had all the paperwork and dealership maintenance records. i dont have the dealership records on hand, he kept them because personal info is on them, however another guy on here pm'ed me that it sounds like a stock mm, because it will go into od at like 35 mph, also i have heard things on reviews for the car about how it goes into od too soon for a lot of reviewers liking.

Fuel filter is a good idea. Take that air intake cleaning a step further and spray clean the MAF sensor, just upstream from the air filter box. Local parts stores sell cans of the required spray cleaner.

That is the problem it is stock. Get a tune I just did and it is a whole different shifting car with the tune. It's like they say around here a tune is the first mod.

hwy73: i know the maf is the mass airflow sensor, but im not sure what it looks like.

and to everybody else, thank you for your help, ive finally figured out for a definate that it needs the tune.

i changed the fuel filter today, took it out for a test drive, and WOW, what a differance in acceleration, it was absolutely worth $13. (although it did not fix the stumbling problem). i also figured that i would cut open my old fuel filter to see just how dirty it was...a medium brown color, when i sc***** my thumb nail across the paper/cloth element, i got brown muck off of it....not sure the last time the filter was changed, but it needed it.94,000 miles---fuel filter/check
