This makes me really wanna go get another one of these rigs. I considered mine to be my first motorcycle due to the time I spent on two wheels with it.

So i'm under the assumption that not all diesel engines can do this...

What makes this possible?

On the driver's side A-pillar he had a snorkel which is like a cold-air intake in a way but it's high up. An engine can run under water as long as it is getting all air and no water into the intake and you stay on the throttle.

Gas engines also have spark plugs. You don't have to worry about loosing spark on a diesel motor because they don't have the same electrical system.

My Samuri was gas powered. To keep mine running through water and mud, I packed the plug wires with grease and tapped them on with electrical tape. I didn't do what this guy did though. The deepest I ever ran mine was ankle deep.

I'm sure a newer, computer controlled diesel would have the same water issues as a gas engine though.

Big deal, I've ran my Marauder through water so deep I was looking at the headlights shining underwater.

Drove one of those Samurai's when I was stationed in Somalia a couple of decades ago; it ran like a top and would go anywhere. I remember the only problem I had was the the throttle linkage came off one day and I fixed that in about 10 seconds. Maybe not the best car for US highways (or high speed turns) but for dirt roads (or no roads) hard to beat, especially for the money.
