Ok I'm serving notice: I plan on this Sat. 11/29/03 to have the worlds fastest stock MM. as far as I know The Fat Bastid 14.738 @ 95.37 is current record holder. If you have a faster stock MM. you better speak up now....and how will I achieve this lofty goal you may ask, well here is my PLAN

Master Plan:

1. At Atlanta I raced at 220 lbs and due to rigorous training I am down to my fighting weight 219 lbs.
2. I am removing my Craftsman 150 piece mechanics tool set from the trunk this time.
3. Also removing from trunk my two deluxe chairs and beach umbrella.
4. Trunk organizer and wife's stuff in it stays home.
5. Will remember to turn off O/D 'cause Willie says so !!!
6. Will not take my medication before racing.
7. Will not race with 3/4 full fuel tank again.
8. Wil drink about a pint of my mother in law's cuban coffee prior to racing.
9. Will add air to some tires and remove air from others.
10. Will try not look at the opponents tree light so much and concentrate on mine this time.

I will let you all know how fast I go or how sick I get.:coolman: :coolman::coolman:

Smokie, Both our MM's are both bone stock. We will get to do an '03 to '04 comparo to see if the changes made to the 04 made a difference at the track. I will have a small advantage though, I am 59lbs lighter lol. Bootlegger will also be there with his "chipped" '03. CRUZTAKER will be there but, with his Pontiac rental.

Smokie, just a question: your sig claims Reinhart programming. How does this fit in with "stock"? ;)

Smokie

03 Marauder
3M Black dark tint
Reinhart programming

I gotta admit, my car is not stock either, since I've got 20% tint on all side and rear windows. LOL!

ps: for the record, my MM is bone stock, as the Bastid's, from air filter to wiper blade as well... still got the factory air filter in it and all.

It's called a "seasoning" adjustment!

I'm left handed so . . .

Triple : You got me there, No chip. Dennis reprogrammed my pcm, not sure in technical terms exactly all that it means, I know that it improved the soft shifting and he said the speed limiter was removed ( I will take his word on that one) never had car dyno so no clue about anything else. I guess I'm old school and I think of modified as removing or adding metal to a car, never thought of it as not being stock.... however to maintain total integrity and purity I will refer to it from now on as almost stock, but softwared enhanced and should I manage a fast run I will place an asterick next to timeslip like Roger Maris had on his homerun record. :D

Dennis - why not install a S/C in your sister's oven - cook that damn turkey in 2 minutes flat.

I guess the best way to quantify the changes that occur when a PCM is reflashed to the extent that Dennis/Jerry do, is to compare it with the old school mods.

For example:
With a PCM reflash, I understand you get:
fuel maps - equivalent to metering jet or metering rod changes on a carb, possibly tinkering with the secondaries on a 4Bbl.
timing changes - equivalent to recurving the distributor, changing the advance weights and setting the base timing to your own specs, possibly even changing the vacuum advance setup altogether
shift firmness - the only way to get this in the old days was a mild shift kit in the tranny
There may be other things that are changed on the reflash, but I can't think of them right now.

So comparing with the older equivalents, some might call them just a "hot rod tune up", some might call them actual modifications. The way I look at it, it's no longer at factory spec (and the tranny work does require physical modifications).

Once I scrape up some cash (not likely for another year), I'd love to see what a Reinhart/Jerry tune can do to my 14.56 time.

Triple: What you said makes good sense, I just think a sofware upgrade changes how some of the existing parts operate, they still remain the original parts, would you consider a car that the dealer flashes the PCM with an upgraded factory reprogram no longer stock ?
PS: A sofware tune probably will shave some time off your ET.

It will be a blast. One of the reasons I bought this car is to meet nice people with the same interests as me.

When you say cool, I hear it will only be in the low 70's but dry. That will be a good thing. Can't wait.

Good point on the reflash, Smokie. Tough thing to debate...

After some thought, I guess my response would be "stock is whatever is available at the factory". The dealer reflash is equivalent to what would have come out of the factory for a later Marauder. If Jerry's tune ever ended up as a factory replacement calibration for existing MM's then I suppose that would be the new "stock" level. I guess it's because I consider the reflash to be a warranty type of item... a "fix" rather than an upgrade. No sense in remaining with a faulty component just to say one is factory-original (ahh, there's a good point to bring up... the difference between factory original and factory stock... factory original means original down to the 20 year old battery ;) while factory stock can mean regular maintenance items and recalls were done, etc...)

On the flip side, if I ever managed to strong-arm an '04 calibration into my '03 PCM or simply switch to an '04 PCM, and wire up my second knock sensor to the PCM, I can't consider myself factory stock because the 2003 MM didn't come equipped that way, even though the 2004 is equipped that way.

I hear you TripleTransAm, actually I don't think you are wrong at all, I just view software parameters changes a little different .... now back to the really important stuff; you never told me what you think of my Master Plan :D

Maybe...someday...if the time comes...someone might be as so kind as to let me do the drivin on a drag strip with their 'Rauder. Any of you lookin to get the fastest time out of their untuned children. I only weigh 120, and I don't wear big ass jeans: )

120#?

Definitely an advantage!

Smokie, your master plan sounds great except for:

#10: don't worry about the reaction time, it doesn't have any effect on your ET.
#8: strong coffee may induce knocking within your intestinal tract, misleading the PCM into retarding your timing. ;)

Wish I could be there to cheer you on. Looks like I may be in the Tampa area sometime early next year.

Triple the coffee thing.... in retrospect may be a bit too much. Wish you could be here this Sat. the weather is supposed to be really nice and we should have 4 MM. guys and 3 cars at the track, an 04 MM. will be running so we will have some numbers on that to compare with 03 numbers and see if the changes for 04 are reflected at the track. I feel like a kid waiting for Christmas; in Atlanta my first time ever I was very nervous and was the first car to run that day, running in my home turf makes me feel more comfortable. If you are going to be in Tampa Bay area let me know it will be a pleasure meeting you.

What are the details for this Saturday? I'm still here in TN, and I may get the day off. If I do, what time are the festivities? You may end up with another stock Marauder. I, too, have a plan. Part of it entails leaving my right foot glued to the floorboard for the entire length of the track. (Those movies with sound can be somewhat embarassing when you pay close attention, oops).

We will have a blast and we will have all those MM's under 15 sec. and looking good. Hope to see you and the Mrs, Javier.:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Wow, I am new to the list and I bought the MM for the wife but, I am bitten by the speed bug. The next time I take the drag bike to the track I will try out the MM. It will be bone stock. The closes track to my house is a 1/8th mi track. I notice all your times are in the 1/4. I hope 1/8 times are acceptable. I havent driven a car at the track in years should be interesting. :-)
