View Full Version : My MM just got vandalized

MMarauder03

I was at americade in Lake George, New York. I went out to my car to grab something. When I opened my door I found a rock in my drivers seat. The trim panel that the clock is in is dented to hell, every single window has to be replaced. The windshiel was left untouched but this guy went around my car hit every window with a rock left gauges in my drivers side windows but couldn't/didn't break them, smashed out my back window left a gauge in my front passenger window and smashed out my passenger side rear window. Then threw the roch through the back window so hard the it shattered the glass went all the way through and dented the trim piece. Needless to say the cops were called on the spot at 4 in the morning. What a :censor: :censor: I've never made an insurance claim ever, will I have to pay any kind of money up front to get this fixed? I'm a little strapped for cash right now seeing as a lot of my bills fall around this time of month. I'll post some pics when I get home but I really needed to vent cuz I'm wicked angry!

He left "gouges", not gauges, unless those were the new AutoMeter rocks.

Sorry to hear of your loss, now go back to school for spelling...

(Of course, if it is due to being 4:51AM then I will let it slide....)

Insurance will generally total them out if all the glass is broken, after the investigation to verify the owner is not trying to commit fraud. It is unfortunate that sometimes people who don't want a car anymore, damage it to the point of a total loss to make the insurance pick up the tab.

I am not saying the OP did this, but the few "bad apples" before him have caused insurance companies to look at all angles.

Sorry for your damages, I will agree with most everyone else, someone was ticked off about something........

If you have glass coverage, or Fire/Theft/Vandelism, all the glass will be covered.

I already know who it is. They won't admit to it. They can't handle their alcohol and I kicked them out of my car because they were lighting cigarettes and threatened to burn a hole in the leather. But the officer put out an apb for their car and the driver got a DUI. I went back to my hotel room for bed and came out to go out at around 4am and they had just come back and done this. I wasn't a dick about kicking them out, I simply pulled over, said "if you guys aren't going to show any respect to me or any of the things I work hard for then you need to get out of my car."

After I had parked and gone into the hotel with some buddies at work there was some Jack daniels involved. I thought gauges were large scratches due to giant rocks slamming into my windows. But when I was driving I hadn't had anything to drink cuz .01=DUI for me

every window and the trim is easly replaceable.
It is not like main body damage which requires welding or straightening.
I am glad they did not damage the leather seats as they are not available. Jim

I was just in the Lake George region last Wednesday, coming back from the Carlisle show, heading to Vermont. I've been to the Americade many many times as a biker and NEVER had any problems. The local police, sheriffs, and state troopers usually keep a very tight lid on things.
Sorry you had to experience this trouble.

F' Em!!!!!! He's lucky your nice and you did not cripple his' ass! Let the insurance company sue him for the deductible anyway as he is now obligated to pay it as he admitted doing the damage to the police. You will have to pay the deductible first to get the work started on your car but then the insurance company goes after him and his' insurance company and as soon as they recoup the money you get your deductible back.

You may invalidate your insurance by giving him an implied waiver by dropping charges particularly if he "pays your deductible". Better check with your insurance first.

2) Threatened to damage your car
3) When you reasonably demanded that he get out, he came back and vandalized the car, and
4) He tried to deny it.

You don't owe him anything. As others have said, **** the bastard. Well, not literally, but you know what I'm saying!

But get the repairs done *before* dropping the charges.

Go through your insurance for the repairs. The court can order him to make restitution to the insurance co. They have the means to make his financial life miserable, you do not. This way you get your car fixed and you should not take a hit on your insurance for this type of claim, especially if they can subrogate it to him.

I bought that piece with the clock and corresponding wire harness used in the parts for sale section of this forum for about $120. I was installing the clock in my 300B with no clock. It took me a while to track the piece down and I had to settle for one with a small dent in it by the passenger door because at the time, Ford's list price was ridiculous. (The real rip off was the price for the clock unit and wire harness so it may not apply to you since you already have those pieces.) If Ford no longer makes the part, your best bet is to watch the parts for sale forum and look for someone parting out a 300A. I still have my old trim piece with no clock, but it's far from perfect condition. The original owner had a carbon fiber overlay sticker on it and I could never get the glue completely off when I transfered the sticker to the new piece.

Glass is going in sometime tmrw morning, cost him 75 each for 2 side windows and 100 for the rear window. As for the body, 1200 for paint and clear, 391 for the trim piece. And 50 bucks to vacuum out all the glass that I missed. Lol

Just make sure your insurance policy does not have a clause that requires you to assist with prosecution since the damage was a result of a criminal act and the perpetrator has been identified. Let the insurance company fix your car, let them go after him for restitution.

Then boil the b#stard (b@stard) in oil.
