Cruise at the Beach

I ran up to Norwich yesterday and grabbed my Dad's '55 Crown Vic. Shined her up, and the Marauder didn't seem to mind.

Some of the cool features are working clock, open top speedometer, and radio with the old "CONNLRAD" triangles on them.

Stopped by to let Dad know his hot rod was still running. You know you're a real gearhead when you have your car engraved on your Headstone. I swear I heard him tell me to take it easy on his clutch. :D

Took the long way to the beach, stopped for photos at the Watch Hill Inn, where anyone who is anybody has a place, and the Weekapaug Inlet (nicest photo I took all day).

Posed her with my other summertime rides, which I hope my doctor will give me permission to start driving again later this month.

The 262 was loving it. It'll still make 85 mph indicated, and has more left. I get a little nervous that fast on the skinny tires.

Beautiful Fairlane Paul - just beautiful! A 262 was the small V-8 in 1955. I believe even the 312s were available in the Fairlane that year. Remember these cars could drive the new Turnpikes in American at very high speeds. PA's new Turnpike in the 50's even had no posted speed limit when it first opened.

Couple Shelbys, the Red one is another good friend. It was the first one in Rhode Island, and the first one sold in Connecticut. The Black one brought the obligatory short skirted long leeged Babe.

Willys belongs to my Dad's old club, nice cam lope in it. The 409 owns the guy who runs this cruise. He is stoked that I have now quit smoking (cigarette Nazi).

Wow Paul that '55 is beautiful. Having the Marauder engraved on the headstone --- now there's an idea. Gotta work that into my will. ;) Wonder if they an do it in Blue?? :rolleyes:

The Vic appears to be running a little on the HOT side unless the gauge is no langer accurate.

This is about the straightest 37 I have ever seen. One of my favs here, onwed by one cool old guy. If there is a cooler looking radio in the world, I have never seen it.

Had a real blast. Driving the Crown is not for anyone who doesn't like attention. The Greman chicks really seem to love it, they talked to me whenever they saw the car. Cruise happens every Thursday at 5:30 to dark. I usually take the Marauder, but figured I'd cruise my dad's cars some this year. Next up will be the 56 Club Sedan.

Yes, I've been in the fire service since 1973. I am currently a Firefighter with the Misquamicut Vol. Fire Dept. I believe I was one of the first or second class for Firefighter1 in Connecticut way back when. We did all the training at the Willimantic Ct. State fire Academy.

We always went to Misquamicut Beach as a family when I was a kid! Great beach!

My friend was a project manager on the hotel...they just wrapped up there....some of his pics (he's an amateur photog) of the inside are pretty ritzy.....
