I plan on changing my water pump since I have 119,000 miles loged. I do not want a electric pump. I know the EMP P/N ste50046s is a great water pump but I don't want to spend that much. What other high flow pumps will work ?

I'd just run the OEM pump!!

I have an EPM and can tell ZERO difference from stock!!:shake:

BTW, I had 147K miles on my OEM and it was still fine!!:bows:

I actually datalogged this and the EMP hands down is the winner. You may not want to pay for the EMP but as the old saying goes "you get what you pay for". Don't be cheap on this one Burt.

I would think that with the added temps from the H-eaton moving more watter would be a benefit. I dropped 14deg in block temp and 16deg in radiator temp by adding the EMP pump, a 180 stat., and a cooling mod. I have datalogging info to prove it

With all this great info it makes for an easy decission . I will continue to run my oem water pump until it starts to show signs of failure. When it is time to replace it knowing the cooler temp numbers recorded via data logger it sounds like the way to go.

i cant say the scan gauge showed any difference with the emp or 180 stat. im usualy running 190-200*

Well I don't have the heat generated from a SC but my MM is running 182*~184* on the highway @ 70mph and 184*~186* in stop and go traffic with a 97* ambient temp.

i only have the 180* thermostat. cruising at 80mph it stays below 190*, but in heavy traffic i have seen it at 220*. but thats with the a/c on and outside temps were over 100* in Miami.

I am running an Evans water pump.

Flows 30% over stock.

But OEM should be fine.

What did you pay for the Evans water pump ? Any idea on what your IAT high is known ambient temp ?

When you change the t-stat, thats what drops temps, not the water pump.

I was thinking about doing the same but I hear it should be worked into the tune. Seeing as though I have left messages with my tuner for a month now and still no call back for issues i am having, my vote of confidence for him is falling faster than stocks this week........

The most efficient combustion is at 195 degrees.
If you want the baddest t-stat on the planet get a Reische Performance 170

Yep. Or you can make your own by taking the spring out of a Stant 170 and installing it in your stock MM stat. Welding required.

Drip, drip, drip...

Looks like my waterpump is going.

Simple question, is this about a 2 hour job to replace the waterpump?

Thats what my mechanic is saying, not sure he has worked on these before though.

It's going in on monday then off to storage :(.

2 Hours! Drain coolant then its a total of 2 minutes to remove the fan assembly, then remove the 4 bolts holding the pulley, then remove the belt, Remove the bolts on the pump, pop it out and replace with new one. Reverse installation directions. Start to finish is less then a half hour. Refilling the cooling system and burping the air out may take a little time but nothing near 2 hours.

2hours????

Maybe if your blind and have both hands tied behind your back!

It's like a 15 - 20 minute job.

If you work slowly and deliberately and make sure everything is perfectly clean and get really OCD about it, MAYBE an hour.

2 hours and he's either incompetent or he's gouging you.

Great time to upgrade water pump to EMP P/N STE500-46S they also fit 01-04 cobra. Also Reische water thermostate 180 degree. The whole job can be done by anyone. It shouldn't take any more than 30-45 min. Disconnect neg battery cable. Drain coolant fluid from lower rad hose. Break loose pulley bolts. Remove serp belt. You do not need to remove the fan assembly. Remove water pump bolts. Remove pump. Prep new pump by putting some lubercant on pump gasket. Inserts pump. Put anti seize on bolt threads & snug bolts. Reassemble in reverse order. Remove fill plug from cross over tube fill & burp system raise front of car 6-8" durring process.
