Tis the season for cooling issue threads, huh?
As the title states, my radiator fan isn't turning on at all, even with A/C on.
I checked fuse 102 and it looks fine. Plug for fan motor looks solid.
Bad fan motor maybe? Is there a sure fire way to check that? Anything else it might be?
Thanks in advance!

Swap the relay under the hood with another one from a working location, then retest for operation.

Power distribution box under the hood, behind the battery. It's relay # 102.
FYI..... got the info from the owners manual.

That's different than fuse 102 that's in the top right corner of the fuse box? I don't have an owner's manual.

Open the power distribution box -- behind the battery -- under the hood. The fuse / relay numbers are printed on bottom of the cover.
PM me with an email address and I'll send you a PDF of the owners manual.

I got it, thanks!
However, I see no relay in the Power Dist box for the cooling fan, only the 50A fuse. Is there a relay for it somewhere else?

Reactors are easy. Hot rock heats water... It's this internal combustion ***** that confuses me. http://www.exodusgaming.net/Smileys/default/mg.gif

Really though, is there something I'm missing? I have a 1000 mile trip coming up in a few days and I'd like to get this sorted out before hand.

A relay is square. A fuse is rectangular.
You are looking in the wrong spot. WOW

My bad. I'm not educated in car mechanics, so I have no idea. I have the aptitude, just not the knowledge.
If a relay is a square then I was looking in the right spot but called it the wrong name. Relay/square/fuse/rectangle/whateverthe**** #102 related to the cooling fan looks fine.

Please take your car to the dealer and have it checked by a professional.
It's better to be safe than sorry.

The relay is square and black and not see through Juice so unless you switch it with another one to check and see if it make's a difference there is no easy way to tell if it is the problem or not.
Unlike a fuse that is see through and you can see is poped a relay is not always an easy diagnoses without changing it out to see if it repairs the problem.

So the square I was looking at is a fuse? 50A red thing in the 102 slot.
Alright, I'll go back and look. Sorry for being a dumbass!

Yep square relay is totaly black and not see through @ all.
50a Red is a see through fuse not a relay.
Your not dumb you just never came up on this before and had no need for the info before now.

Now that I look at it I see the difference. Which one is for the fan?

I'm not stupid. Of course I looked there first. I also searched this topic first before I posted it, which is why I knew about the #102 fuse.
In the manual:
201 1/2 ISO Horn relay
202 1/2 ISO PCM relay
203 1/2 ISO Fuel pump relay
204 1/2 ISO A/C clutch relay
205 1/2 ISO Traction control switch relay
206 — Not used
207 1/2 ISO Fog lamp relay
208 1/2 ISO Moonroof relay
209 1/2 ISO Hi-beam disable with fog lamp
relay
301 Full ISO Blower motor relay
302 Full ISO Starter solenoid relay
303 Full ISO Air suspension relay
304 Full ISO Heated backlight relay
401 — Not used
501 Diode PCM diode
502 Diode A/C clutch
503 — Not used
601 — Not used
602 20A** Adjustable pedals, Power
None of these scream radiator fan to me, so I asked. If that's too much heat for you to handle, then kindly get the **** out of my kitchen. :)

Maybe it is the speed control module which is mounted on the fan shroud. The silver box with 2 wires going to the motor.

Undo the connector, hook 12 volts up to the power wire and ground the negative. If it works its the relay, if it doesnt its the fan motor.

Junk yard if you are in a pinch for money. Grand marquies and Crown vic should have the same control modual.
Get the parts numbers off of it for a cross reference

Update: apparently the fan completely separated from the fan motor. Of course, to replace it I have to replace the whole assembly.
The A/C also purged all freon from the motor getting hot (not overheat, but high in normal range), so I'm getting that recharged as well.
Not a cheap day, that's for sure.

The question about which relay controls the cooling fan was never answered. Everybody just said to look it up in the owner's manual.
As the original poster stated, the user's manual (pages 137-139) does not specifically list a relay for the cooling fan. Look it up isn't the answer. Again, the owner's manual does not give this information on the list of relays - or is the cooling fan listed as something else? Here are 2 very simple questions with a very short answers:
Which relay is associated with the cooling fan?
Where is this information noted in the owner's manual?

FWIW--This just went out on my MM after 7 and 1/2 years--cost $229 from Advance Auto but had to get the whole shroud and fan assembly to get the module though--just unscrew it and plug and play with the old unit---
Couldn't have done it with the great help of 03mmmonroe --Thanks a million-no just make that a bunch
