Ok, i've searched through the forums here and haven't found my issue.

Last week, all of the sudden, my MM starts making this loud clicking noise. Only at idle. And it's not constant. It clicks for like 5 seconds, then goes away for like 30 seconds. Its coming from the front of the engine. I noticed a drop in volts, but not idle speed. I was leaning towards the water pump.
Now it does it in reverse. And up to about 20 mph.

I can post a vid when i get home from work to facilitate this troubleshooting. Thanks peoples!

clicking? Like electrical clicking? Check/clean battery terminals make sure all grounds are clean and tight.

How many miles are on it? If the water pump is going get the EMP unit, is the car temp good?

Additional question; does the clicking increase with motor speed? Pully(s), Belt Tensioner come to mind. check and see if there's something loose, hose, cable, plastic piece.

What in the world are you doing going 20 miles an hour in reverse?
My engine has randomly clicked since 2004, has randomly mosquito dusted the area with blue smoke at start up, and randomly had a rough idle. I don't know how loud yours is clicking but it could be nothing. Watch the temps, check the oils for water, etc. etc.

20 mph forward. My bad.

It is a constant speed click/clack. It does not increase with engine speed.

I already had the water pump replaced in sept 2006. That was only 25k ago. I want to replace the pump with the electric pump/

The car only has 55k on it.

I'll give it a good look over tonight. I've been running around like crazy.
I do need to change the bearings in the pulleys next month when the blower goes in. I know those are squeling.

If it is a consistant sound with unchanging rythym when the motor is changing rpm's, it is not on or in the motor. Relays? Hmmmm...

Sounds like it could either be a relay that is going bad or the voltage regulator in the altinator is starting to go.

Yep a voltage regulator can click on and off and seeing you said the is a voltage drop I would say it is the better target to look @ and start with.

Go to a shop that can do a load test on the altinator to see what is up chances are it needs to be rebuilt or replaced.

But as the others said it never hurts to look @ the battery connections to make sure they are tight and not coverd in crap that might break the connections.

I'm pretty sure it's the water pump. My battery conections are good.
I took the video last night, but i need time to put it on the interwebs.
