Yep. You can thank Mayor Blumberg for the demise of the Crown Vic Yellow Cabs & the "Black Car" Town Cars in NYC. He's been trying to do away with these since he got into office and he not only got them out of NYC but I believe his continued efforts helped in Ford's decision to shut the line down!
He's a short man with short man's complex and just becase he can sit in the back seat of a Prius he thinks it's ok for everyone else.
And why should he care, he takes the subway to work!!!
I hope he gets mugged the next time he's riding the subway!!

Prius is used by parking enforcement agents.

Their are approximately 20 Altima's( Hybrid ) designated for precinct patrol.


Highway Patrol uses Chryslers and Crown Vic's only.

Its true, I always try to hail Crown Vics. I love stretching out in the back seat of an extended wheelbase Vic when I go bobbing in the city.

I remember when I had to go to NYC for work when the first long wheelbase Crown Vc taxis came out, man it was a revalation! From that point on, when I needed a cab I always looked at the size of the non-lowering portion of the back glass to make sure it was a biggie. Never understood why Mercury didnt offer the lwb in the Marquis in the US.
