I have the LCM failure. Does anyone know of a place close to Huntsville,Al. that can repair these? I don't have $800 to replace it.
Despite the fact that I design Printed Circuit Boards I don't work on them.

Talk to fastblackmerc. In the mean time, if you physically tap the unit it will usually trip the relay and that'll usually get you where you're going without the lights switching back off.

I just replaced the bad relay with a new oem style one. 100% now, if you search you will find a thread on how to do it.

fastblackmerc has fixed many of them for members...I believe he can replace the OEM relay with the same if you request it, or he can do the upgrade to a heavier-duty external relay, which is the preferred repair.

I only use the heavy duty external relay.

If you replace the OEM relay with another OEM relay you WILL have the same problem down the road... it's just a matter of time.

I will guaranty my relay and repair for the life of your car / LCM.

Go with a heavy duty external relay . I fixed mine and sold a spare to Matt Johnson using the info from Crownvic.net. If you question your ability at all pm
fastblackmerc he can perform the repairs for you:up:.

Hmmm, well the first relay lasted 8 years, so if this one lasts another 8 I'm sure it would be the least of my problems at that point lol

For me, first relay lasted 5 years, 2nd one lasted 18 months, better off going with the HD relay, IMO.

Thanks jim. (fastblackmerc):bows:
LCM reinstalled yesterday afternoon.
Works good.
Removal was easy after I remembered the gas pedal was adjustable and found the latches on the connectors.
Harder to put back in than take out for some reason.

I'm gonna have to do this pretty soon on the wife's car. Last weekend during one short drive where I made several stops, the headlights were out. Turned on the fog lights and they worked ok. Next time I cranked up the car all the lights worked ok. Intermittent problems rarely stay intermittent, usually progressing to hard failure.

This is why you are on my list of people to turn to for the common failures.
So far so good. It was replaced a few years ago under warranty. Next time, you'll have another customer.
