Staged. Why would they film with the police officer right there? They would have called their friend to warm him. The way the officer got out of the car and the tone of his voice, you knew it was fake.

Just my thoughts.

His lights also lit off before the guy fully came around the curve. He was waiting for him, and that's a blind curve, wouldn't happen.
