I went to an air show in Westfield MA over the weekend and thought I would share some pictures. This was a very touching air show for me because my grandfather that passed away last year flew for the Navy in WWII and seeing planes that he flew flying overhead was very touching and I would be lying if I said I didn't shed a couple tears over it. Plus they would dedicate fly overs to those serving and those that are veterans and they were very touching fly overs as well. It was a great time and so cool to see these planes in flight! Very impressive! It will be a year next week of my grandfather's passing, so it was nice. It truly felt like my grandfather was there with my father and I. Something very strange happened that made me feel good. I was standing by a plane that my grandfather used to fly and all of a sudden I got a wiff of the cologne my grandfather used to wear! I found it kind of interesting because I never smell anyone wearing that cologne. My father wore my grandfather's old hat with his wings on it. It was a great time, just my father and I (and my grandfather)
PICS!

:DI really respect your love for your Grandfather--those men were all heros in my mind.As one who has loved airplanes since I was 6, and had the chance to fly many of the planes shown , the memories were great. I hope they flew the "missing Man" formation--the highest tribute a pilot can have. Your Grandfather flew the Grumman TBF Avenger--right ?????? . The shot of the "jet powered truck" ( A-10 Warthog) was neat. I picked out the following planes I have flown in my career:
North American P-51 Mustang
Douglas C-47
North American B-25 Mitchell
North American T-6 Texan
Stearman PT-17
Beech C-45
Lockheed P-3V (flew L-188 Electra Airline version)
Again, thanks for the memories, Capt. Maury Seitz, USAFRet:beer:

Glad you enjoyed them! My grandfather flew the Stearman, the Texan, and the Avenger. They were saying how interesting it was to fly those planes and how it took skill to fly them, which gave me an even great respect for my grandfather. I love air shows and I used to go to them with my dad and grandfather and it was different to go to one with my grandfather gone. Definitely miss him. Looking to get a tattoo to symbolize both my grandfathers and would like for it to be Navy oriented in some way seeing as how they both served Navy. I wanted to do one of my grandfather's planes flying over my other grandfather's ship he was on, but the ship is too difficult. I need to think of something! haha
