View Full Version : I'm the guy who bought bawazir's Supercharged MM
Hi all, I've been semi lurking for a few weeks and the more I watched his for sale thread, the more I figured it was a deal too good to let pass by... Basically this car was a Hell of a buy and the rebuilt title doesn't mean "Jack" to me...
After we worked out the deal, the wife & I flew into O'hare Sat morning where Abdul met us and we went for a "quick" ride which immediately sold the car... We settled the paper work, got a fill up and was on the road to Alliance OH, where we spent the night with friends... Sunday were out the gate at 8 AM and were making great time, till the serpentine belt let go just before the 100 mile marker on the PA Turnpike... AAA hauled it to the Auto Zone in Summerset where one of the employees trotted over and offered to help me repair it(he was on lunch break)... First thing we noticed was the back of the belt was worn badly and then found it had been rubbing on the lower part of the alternator bracket, so belt had been improperly installed... After figuring out what we thought was the correct wrap, the belt was too short... I then called Abdul and he called justbob who gave me the routing and the correct length(A big THANK YOU Bob), so after about 3.5 hours total, we hit the road again without any other issues...
While this is my first Marauder & first supercharged anything, I've owned several "transportation" MGMs, currently have a grandma '98 LS with 37K mi and a '07 GS that's about as basic as they come...
My Hot Rod of late has been a '88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe that I converted to 5.0(Trick Flow Heads & cam, 2.5" exhaust, etc, etc)... I've taken a bit of flack for ruining a "ahem" rare car(that's a joke, Ford built almost 40K in '88 alone)... While the 5-speeds are fun, even a turbo on a half motor(4cyl) isn't exactly a performance piece in a 3500 lb car... With the 5.0, it's run 13.11 NA and a best of 12.23 @ 105 with a small shot of nitrous...

Congrats. Write down the belt number somewhere (for both belts). With all the custom configurations out there it's sometimes difficult to cross-reference because the books only refer to the OEM belt.

Interesting.... so all the belt issues bedazzle bear had was due to an improperly routed belt.......

Welcome, hope to see you around the way since it appears we're both in southeast VA. I work out in Suffolk at Beach FLM and live in Isle of Wight.

Yep, the other side of the JRB, I live on the south end of the county. I come over to the peninsula all the time for tournaments with my daughter's softball team. Stoney Run and York County Sportsplex.

Naah no stars, on a 75Hp nitrous shot my 5.0 T-Bird is faster, BUT my head is still spinnin' from the thought of being able to buy such a car...
I'd been looking for a Silver Birch, but being able to buy a SC MM made me forget about the color...
