My paint is finally being attended to .
Our one step process was no match for the Chicago elements.
It has looked bad slightly after, the factory warranty was expired.
One of our own members, has Re opened the old Fox Lake Ford Mercury location as "One Special Car".
The shop is complete with full body mechanic shop and is certified in rebuilding.
The frame Machine is rated for fourty ton of pulling .
All measurements will be laser verified.
The car will be striped of all the mouldings and front and rear glass will also be R & R'ed.
I have lots of rust starting on the top and rt hand sail panel.
This car will be seven years old and I'm thinking a nice three step is just what she needs.
Pics to follow.

Sounds like you got the right people tending to it.
Good Luck with the work

I am sure they will remove the door handles and bumpers when re-painting.

Hi Brad. It's hard to tell in the pics of your hood just how bad it really is. As you know, I've seen it first hand, so I know how bad those blisters are. I'm really happy for you and very envious. When does the car go in?

I picked at it with my thumb nail, it has at least a couple dozen spots with no paint or primer.
The biggest bald spot is the sail panel on the passenger side.
That had a bubble starting 3 years ago.
There are a few small ones on the trunk deck too so I'm considering a complete top & front repaint.

Couldn't it wait until after Labor Day? I doubt there will be a snow event between now and then.

In the world of car design, the sail panel is the little triangle on the front doors where your outside mirrors are mounted. The chunk of metal behind a car's rear window is a C-pillar. There are just about as many industry-specific oddball terms for car design as there are for ships and sailing. It's too much!!

you sure about this info?

I always thought mustang guys referred to the sail panel as the piece behind the door glass.

Yes generally, the area above the quarter panel and behind the rearmost door. If the mirror mount area is called sail panel, ive never heard it, and i work in body design.

I'm pulling from my memory of the book "Car: A Drama of the American Workplace" by Mary Walton, check out this link (http://books.google.com/books?id=3xmDzzNiwiUC&lpg=PP1&dq=Car%3A%20A%20Drama%20of%20t he%20American%20Workplace&pg=PA91#v=onepage&q=sail&f=false)

What did we ever do without Google???? shudder to think. :D

I head it referred to as sail panel .
Whatever you want to call it , that part has had the paint comming off of it since I was out of 3/36 warranty.
Now rust is accumulating there as well.

I just got some One Special Car flyers to pass around to other business and prospective clients.
I just noticed the prices are extremely reasonable and 100 dollars spent gets you a "Free Lunch" @ Burritos Express.
That is who catered thier grand opening, I will attest to the food there is fantastic. :food:
