Hey Guys....

I have the same old "Buzzing Sound" in the MM that I have had in every CV I got new?? :mad2: It is wind related and happens above 70 MPH or in cross wind conditions at lower speeds??

I thought it was the plastic thing that is under the hood above the radiator and headlights but removing it makes no difference!! Sounds like plastic vibrating against metal in front of the driver but hard to nail down!!:help:

Anybody have the same noise or am I once again the "Lucky One"?? :(

Funny thing is that it eventually goes away by itself......either falls off or dirt packs around it??

Maybe a screw or push pin is missing from the front cowel?

Nothing is obvious but I'll continue to look!!

The strange thing is that all of my Crown Vics had the same noise and it finally went away?? :(

BTW.....It changes pitch as speed increases or a crosswind hits??

Thanks,

LMLover is on the ball. This is generally the trailing edge of the wiper cowl trim panel on the left side. It can be remedied by applying two sided tape to this edge and reinstalling the panel. Should be warrantable. Good Luck.

frdwrnch....

That's exactly where it sounds like it's coming from!! The MM cowl has a rubber molding unlike the CV cowl?? There is also a little piece at the edge (see pic). Is this the thing you are speaking of???

Yes, that's it. Apply about a 12" to 14" strip of two-sided tape to the underside of that trim panel to the plastic area below where the rubber moulding is attached to the panel. You're wanting to stick the plastic plastic triim to the w/shield to prevent air from getting trapped beneath it. It's not too hard, good luck!

Well....

I attached the panel to the windshield and it helped but still have a slight buzz in a crosswind!!

I checked my door drains since I read about tape over the drains in another post??

Look what I found!! LF and LR were not attached well and could have been the buzz?? LR was not even positiond to where the small hole was in the drain at all......What were these supposed to accomplish??

It'll probably whistle now.....Stay tuned!!:(

If you affected it then just go back and see if you spot an area that is not well secured. When I'm diagnosing these at work I drive with a roll of tape and cover suspect areas until I eliminate the noise and then go back to the shop to perform a permanent repair.

That wasn't it!!!!:mad2:

I've had the same damn noise on all my Crown Vics and it eventually goes away!!

Happens at 65 MPH and above and now that I've put tape behind the windshield facia it is lower pitch and doesn't change much with increased speed!!!

Suggestions?? I've glued or stuck down every obvious thing??:(
