Has anyone besides me ever bought an aftermarket front grill? Mine is all wavy along the top after a couple months. A real piece of crap! I wish I hadn't thrown the old one away. An OEM grill is around $180 I think.
Does anyone have a black OEM grill in nice shape for sale?

That is mostly caused by overtightening. I did the same and my OEM one has waves. Next time leave it just a tad loose so it can expand and contract to the heat.

justbob, I've come to find this out also, in the near future I'm going to put some small rubber washers in there so it won't be too loose, but still not get "wavy".

I thought that might be the case. But then the nuts will fall off. Is there a way to get the waves out?

Mine is OEM, and also does this, so I doubt that it is the aftermarket.

Mine is OEM also. I took it out after being in there for six years to go badgeless and after a month I had waves. I suggest to use silicone on the threads next time and keep her a tad loose, or even the rubber washer mentioned by Blk Mamba might work. I'm sure the waves are perminant however, I never bothered to try and remove them.

I ran out and loosened them. My old grill wasn't wavy, just chipped to all hell, and was on tight. So, I don't know what to say about that.

The OEM had a gasket that eliminated some of the problem by closing any visiual gap w/o having to over titen.

This can be painful. Just ask anyone that bought an Impala SS.

As to the nuts being loose, you might try nylon insert nuts is you can find them in metric sizes.
Any pics of these aftermarket grills?

Painted? The plastic is black when it is injected into the mold.

I've seen a few pics of badgless Marauders. I could definitely do without that Mercury badge. I thought of simply painting the badge black so it isn't too prominent. Has anyone here done that?

That's what she said.
