off to Reno!

im off to Reno at 5:15pm today for the annual air races. ill be crew chief on race 21 in the jet class but also helping with race 77 and race 2.

hey all, as Maury said, in gold we got 1st and 3rd and in silver my orange plane got 2nd.

we now have the fastest L-29 and 39 along witht he fastest L-29 with a stock engine.

The photos of the Warbirds are great. P-51 and P-38 are pretty familiar, a couple have me guessing.

Now that you mention it, I can see the radiatior inlet on the belly; the canopy and the small scoop on the top of the engine cowling threw me off. Is that an air intake for the Allison?

I was at Stead Sunday to Sunday. My buddy and I took close to 14k pictures. Might have some good ones of Race 21 and your other jets. I still have not gone through all of them. Too bad I didn't get on here before the race, I would have loved to stop by and say hi. Didn't have anything else to do, so we were there until dark many days.

I'll be there next year. Already looking at where we will stay. I should have a bunch more pics. It is pretty hard to get them in focus when they go by at 500 mph! I can look for more if you are interested. Let me know what birds you are interested in.

I would love to get some up close shots. Hell, I'll even do some ground crew work if you need help.

That's a sick pic of our hot rod. Mangold even got the jump on the start and got passed by curt within 2 laps liike he was sitting still

it is definitely more pilot then plane. the plane is fast but Curt is probably the best race pilot out there.

I thought Mangold had the same upgraded engine, so I can believe there is some pilot skill there. Hard to believe the nose on Curt's plane makes that big a difference. Flying a better line will.

I see Race 21 may be doing a fly by for the World Series.

Pictures 52-54 look like Gruman F7F Tigercats, have never seen one of them up close. Talk about rare WWII warbirds.
