Went to go see a good buddy of mine graduate from basic!

What a beautiful looking base, got lost in the miles of artillery ranges and historic buildings.

Good weekend!

The closest I ever got to Sill was Ft. Hood, which would swallow Sill. Thank you both for your service.

All major Army installations are referred to as fort, with smaller ones usually being called camp. Sill is near Lawton, OK.

Does this mean you will start calling back again or do I have to keep harassing you?

Fort Sill is im the middle of nowhere in Oklahoma. I went to basic there, home of the Field Artillery. i was a 13F. That said I HATE Lawton. Its a crap town IMHO. Sill is an awsome post tho, very good training facilities. I have alot of good memories at Sill

I was stationed there in 1/82 to 2/83 at the 4/31st Infantry (Polar Bear). Fired mortars for the FO school twice a week and once a month we would simulate a battle field for the FO's, firing over 200 rounds of WP for a smoke screen. First time ever seeing a lightning bug, awesome sight when everywhere you could see was flashing. Went through 5 tornado's and the lightning storms were quite a show. The only thing I regret was I wished I had taken a picture of Geronimo's grave.

There is also the Meersburger right off base.

If you click on the meerstore link, click on earth view, you can see where Ft. Sill is. Slightly southeast of the red A marker and the northeast corner of Lawton. Zoom in Zoom out works real good.

And serving a 22 oz beer.....probably because it's 3.2 beer... or has Ok changed that?

Nope, still 3.2 beer. Have to get the real stuff at the liquor store.

I was put in a Mortar Platoon at my duty station. Some of the best most underappericated soliders in the US Army are 11C's. And of corse us 13F's. FISTERS LEAD THE WAY!
