Hi, my brother recently bought a 04 burgundy marauder. I drove it and loved it. I been shopping for a local one and found 1 at the Rizza dealer which i noticed some members test drove and I didnt like. Someone else has one on cars . com for 16000 with 34xxx miles on it. What do you think?

for that money it better be near perfect, if there's nothing at all wrong with it, could be worth it

Get a member that lives close by to give you an opinion on it and maybe test drive it.
BTW.... Marauders were NEVER came from the factory maroon. It's Dark Toreador Red, aka: DTR
I think that if you decide to buy it you should offer around $12K for it... 99% of the time a vehicle can be bought for somewhat less than the asking price, why do you think they call them dealers??? $12K may not buy it but likely you can get a kilo-buck or two off the price if you try...

It's got new tires and is real clean. Any common problems or costly maintenance due soon

$16000.00 seems a bit steep even if it does only have 34000 miles. Mine has 45000 miles and I would only think it is worth maybe $13,000.00. If you can look at it and drive it and all seems in perfect shape I would only go as high as $14,000.00 out the door. I would think the only thing you might want to do is have the Transmission flushed and filled. Other than that make sure it has had regular maintenance done. Good luck!!!

Wacky Wipers
Relay failure in the LCM
LCD failures in the door panel light switches
EATC issues
All are minor problems and all are fixable for low cost, plenty of links on this site to address all of them.
Other than that, the cars are very reliable, and with routine maintenance you'll easily get over 100K on the engine without issues.

Always run the VIN through Ford's OASIS database and get Autocheck and Carfax reports just so there are no surprises.

I saw the one at Rizza, didn't drive it though. It was nice but 15 grand with 66 thousand mile if i remember correctly. I say go south......look on autotrader. The farther south you go out the cheaper they seem to get. I bought one last week in southern Indiana with 73,000 miles for $10,700. (and got a Ford extended warranty)

I would check here on the site for cars for sale by one of our members.* Chances are at least a few of us may have seen it or be near enough to go and see it. Then I would ask RoyLPita to run the VIN. "LOW miles and GREAT shape" may be worth 14-15K. They're not making anymore.;)
*There is a 2003 300A with 60,000 miles for sale by vtwoodsman (John). Saw it in May and June and it looked beautiful.

Wow...thats pricey...Got mine 2 yrs ago with 25K miles, one previous owner, and only "problems" were the paint needed to be redone on hood roof and deck lid. Also there was a cigarette burn next to the cup holder. The dealer was asking 11 or 12 thousand, and I got it (after taxes, etc) for 8500. Of course, I had to shell out the extra money the next day to get the paint redone, but asking $16K for one with more miles seems silly.

Which car are you referring to? It's clearly not the one vtwoodsman is selling. And FWIW I would opt to purchase from a member over a dealer. As to your ability to purchase one with low miles for $8500 two years ago....good for you....but let's all hope those days are long gone and the cars have become a little more valuable.

16k wouldn't even come close to buying mine.
In all honesty, the car is "worth" what you are willing to pay for it. If it is exactly what you want and dream about every night, make it yours, as long as you are happy with the purchase and feel it is a fair deal for you, that is all that matters.

Not sure how that is pricey. I bought mine in November of last year with 24k on it for just about that price. When I was looking for mine, most of the ones that I found with that kind of mileage were all in the same ball park price. Now if the car in question has issues, that would justify a price change but ... Mine has almost 40k on it now, plus a few minor mods ... If I were to consider selling, I would think 16 might be a fair number.
