Im not surprised. Oldsmobile, the company that build so many iconic muscle and luxury cars finished its run with its last car being a Oldsmobile Alero. :shake:

They don't build Grand Marquises in Kansas, they build them in Canada. This plant probably only does the explorer/mariner.

LOL... I rented a 2011 Grand Marquis when we were was in Vegas two weeks ago, it surely wasn't last as it was missing the above options and was white... Actually it was built in Aug and had a VIN sequence of 600560 so was a "early" 2011... Apparently they'd only had it a short while, was reading 850mi when I got it and a bit over 1300 when I turned it in...

My last rotation down here I had a 2011 GM, 2,011 miles on it when I picked it up. Great two weeks with the car.

I've got a 2011 Saturn Vue this time around. No comparison. :shake:

FWIW, "...Mercury has continued to out-sell Lincoln (http://www.autoblog.com/make/lincoln) right to the end – besting Ford's luxury arm's sales by nine percent in August..."

Tell me again why FoMoCo is doing this?

Because Ford plans to do a complete makeover on Lincoln. Lincoln's in the near future will have their own exclusive drivetrains, suspensions and sheet metal, although built on existing Ford platforms they will not share any similar sheet metal therefore it will look and feel like a completely different vehicle. For Mercury to remain price friendly in its segment it had no choice but to be a re-skinned Ford with maybe an extra bell and whistle.

I think they should put it in a wooden canoe, set it on fire, and give it a warriors burial at sea. Oh wait, it's a Mariner? **** that, so long Mercury, thanks for making my Marauder that much harder to aquire!

Daewoo, thank goodness. My brother bought one of those Korean failures brand new lol. I worked at a Chrysler/Plymouth/Jeep dealer as a tech when Plymouth was cut, very shortly after I received my Prowler Certification and bought my Plymouth Neon. I found it quite ironic!

Ford is going the way of GM and Chrysler. They have lost their way. I will not be buying anything new. Will just rebuild old ones.

Nope, was a separate division of Ford in the late '50s.
