My computer has decided to e-mail spam to everyone I know. I've run a bunch of anti-spyware/ anti-virus software but it hasn't found anything.
Is there anything else I should try?

I've been using Webroot complete internet security beta for the past 6 months, has a 60 day trial on it. Give it a whirl, got rid of some mal-ware on my work computer.

Hate to say so, but if enough people get on board with that idea, you'll soon be seeing the same problems Windows PC users face.
Trust me, Macs aren't inherently better-secured systems, just that nobody has bothered much yet.

If the solution you are trying to use runs from Windows, then it will never get rid of all the rootkits. You need to either pull the hard drive out and mount it as a second drive to a known clean PC for scanning, or get a linux derivative scanner that boots from the cdrom.
My tool of choice is Avira's rescue CD. Download for free from avira.com, downloads, tools. It has a self burning exe or an ISO if you want to burn it yourself. Boot this disk and clean the system.
Their forum has specific instruction for the beginner:

:D
Thank you!
I had to wait a few days to see if the changes made any difference and right now, all seems well.
Of course I could always double check it too... If anyone wants an e-mail from me, just give me your address. Just let me know if my machine starts spamming you offers of cheap viagra like it did to one of my hunters. I thinks he's still mad at me. :D

You can run a command prompt and run "netstat -a" shows all active connections. Those with tcp 25 (smtp) on destination is email. Sometimes too you can be a victim of a "joe job" your email address is forged and used to send spam out by other machines elsewhere on the net.
