For the record, I think this is:
1. Comedy genious.
2. Noble of the writers to shed light on what people in third world countries sacrifice for our commodities.
3. Funny.

And here's the story:
http://www.fancast.com/blogs/2010/tv-news/grim-simpsons-intro-sheds-light-on-dark-world-of-sweatshops/?cmpid=FCST_tvnews
There is a vid link in the story but it was pulled due to copyright. I found a vid of it though. ^^^ So did they go too far? I don't think so. I think people need to lighten up and unbutton their top button. Enjoy this entertainment for what it is, entertainment. Enjoy and post your commentary.

Guys, this is what is known as SATIRE.
FWIW --- Satire is primarily a literary genre or form, although in practice it can also be found in the graphic and performing arts. In satire, vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, and society itself, into improvement. Although satire is usually meant to be funny, its greater purpose is constructive social criticism, using wit as a weapon.
No worse than telling the Emperor that he has no Clothes.
A bit heavy for The Simpson's. Maybe even a bit gutsy. But still no big deal. The intent was somewhat noble to shed light on the problem.
Wish that they would have included dipping kid's toys in lead paint, too. That seems to be a fairly common unregulated practice.

The correct spelling is "D'oh"!! :D
BTW, after seeing that one, I went on Wikipedia to see what all of the other couch gags were all about. I'm not a constant watcher of the show.

If you want to scrutinize a cartoon, then check out Fritz the Cat-1972!
The Simpsons are still on?! I had already discovered women back when the show started. And I still like women, so that pretty much rules out watching the Simpsons any time soon.

The Simpsons are still on?!
Yeah. I was a kid staying up late with my dad watching the Simpson shorts on the Tracy Ullman Show. I'm nearly geezer status.
