I think that the rescue efforts down in Chile to free the 33 miners after 69 days of being trapped 2,300 feet underground was nothing short of a heroic effort. It appears that everything was done right. The rescue borders on a miracle, IMHO.

One guy may be wishing he was back down in the hole. He had a wife AND A MISTRESS waiting for him when he came up. :rolleyes: I bet he was looking for a dark, quiet place after that reunion.

The story about the mistress is not a 100% accurate. From what I read he was recently divorced from his wife and had started dating an other woman. Nothing wrong with that.

I lived in Chile for a couple of years in the early 90's and it really is a fantastic place if you ever get a chance to visit. The people down there seem to like Americans and we actually have a free trade agreement with them. Lots of the fresh fruits and veggies in the stores in our wintertime come from Chile as well. The shaft that reached the miners (option B) was actually dug by a company out of Pennsylvania using an American designed and built drill bit. Im glad we are not making too much hay about that, let the Chileans have their day in the sun (literally and figuratively) and our relationship will only get better. One other interesting thing, the police in Chile are the only ones in Latin America I know of that do not accept bribes. I like to think I have Chilean connection, when I left in 1992 I sold my beautiful low mileage 1990 red Firebird Formula to a rich engineer guy and Ill bet he is still enjoying it there!

Holy Crap! I had a red 1990 Firebird Formula 350 too! Great motor, great rims, great tires, so-so body and completely, totally, embarrassingly horrific paint job!
