View Full Version : New Owner/ How Old Are Marauder Owners?

NOMARQUIS

Hello

I brought my new 2003 Marauder home on Monday. It is a 300a model. How do I find the production date? I think it was 8-12-02, that is what the window sticker says. If the car is that old, should I change the oil before I drive it anymore. I have driven the car home which was 50 miles. Now we're having a snow storm, so in the garage it will stay.

I'm 28 years old, but I see there are several owners that are middle-aged. I was 23 when I bought my Mark VIII new in 1998. I sold the Mark to buy the Marauder, but I guess I'm still driving a "Geezer's" car. :) No, actually my dad told me how his buddy had a S-55 model in high school. They used to cruise the town and troll for chicks. It's funny how my car has sparked my dad's memory. He wants to drive my car. Thats cool.

Are there any women who own a Marauder? Any Wisconsinites drive these things in winter? Are these cars problem ridden like my Mark VIII was?

Thanks,

Eric

Eric, congrats on the new Marauder. I recently bought a 2003 300A (Build date :10/02) that had 6 miles on the odometer when I first test drove it. This was just three weeks ago. Changing the oil was the first thing I did because I assumed that it was never changed. I used Motorcraft 5W20 semi-synthetic (Wal-Mart sells this oil for about $1.77 a quart). I'll switch to full synthetic when I have more miles on the car. For now it's tucked away in the garage till the weather improves.

Make sure you look at all the wire harnesses to make sure they are not chaffing on any sharp metal. Do a search on this topic, it been talked about numerous times. Good luck with your Marauder.

By the way, I'm 32 years old.

Welcome, Eric. It's always nice to see another Cheesehead on the site! There is a lot of good information on here, and a lot of great people.

I put winter tires on my Marauder, don't know how much snow it will see since I have a truck, but I am prepared!

What part of the state are you at?

Thanks for all your help! I'll check the wiring harnesses, I assume you mean the ones under the hood. I can't drive it cause of the blizzard today. Fun! Sheboygan- I'm in Columbus. Do you know where that is? I go to Batavia a lot to see a friend. I used to live in West Bend. You arn't all that far away. :) I don't think I'll drive my Marauder in the snow. I have a POS 1992 Escort wagon I drive on bad days. Hey, What is ZAINO? and how do your SS Inserts look? Oh, go Pack and have a Pabst Blue Ribbon for me!

Thanks Fellaz!

Welcome NOMARQUIS, all of your questions have already been asked and answered. The best thing to do this a search through the Forums on the questions that you may have. Some are easy, like "What is Zaino?"; it is a car wax that a lot of owners here use on their Marauders.
....and if you want to moddify your car, well you came to the right place to learn about all the different mods that you can do to your little baby.
Sit back relax search the site read posts and enjoy. There are many friendly people here that will be glad to help you and a lot of joking around. Yeah right!! :D

Once again welcome and don't be a stranger.

Eric,
Welcome! "That ain't your grandpa's Grand Marquis!!!" I bought mine a week before I turned 40. I am driving it through snow today for the first time. We had rain and sleet and then about 2 inches of snow. I have the winter tires on the back and need to get the winter tires on the front. The car looks horrible, but it beats putting it in a ditch. I have about 200 lbs of sand and my 2 other tires in the trunk. It didn't do too bad. I had several hills and it got me where I needed to go.

You have good taste in cars. I always liked big luxury cars. My wife won't let me buy a Towne Car yet though. Maybe for my 50th.
Enjoy!!

Hello and welcome to fabulous life of being a Marauder owner. It's been about three weeks since I picked up my baby. It's a 04 Silver Birch and boy do I have fun with this beast. The best part is sitting at the light and having some idiot next to you that tries to race, but does not have a clue untill he sees my tail lights in the distance. You have come to the right place for info, God knows there is a ***** load to absorb. I have been visiting this site for almost a year before I took the plunge and bought my Marauder. Well congrats and happy motoring.

P.S. I am 36 years of age. The wife considers me 2 years when I drag race and blow the doors off of unsuspecting morons.

Wow, that Vic looks almost like a Marauder. NICE!!! Hey, what are "Silverstars?" The girl I'm dating saw my car last night for the first time. It's still captive in my garage (friggin' snow!) She said, "It looks like a cop car." I didn't know how to answer her. :)

Everyone on here rocks! Thanks for all of your replies!

Tell her it is a cop car and that now your doing undercover work for the Feds.;)

Silverstars are replacement lightbulbs that you can buy. They are brighter then the OEM bulbs.

Hehehe....thanx. I'm extremely pleased with my car.

When I bought mine, there were no MMs. I knew they were coming but I got an excellent deal on mine. At the time I got my car, rumors had the MMs costing Waaay to much once released. As it is, all the local dealers that got MMs were marking the car up. I saw one for close to $40k when they were 1st released. Of course, that didn't last long. :D

My mom calls my car a fuddy-duddy-mobile. She says I'm too young for my Crown Vic. So, as far as she's concerned, I was 23 when I got mine but am now 73...lol.

My dad, on the other hand, loves my car but says I should be driving something else and he should be driving my car...lol.

Welcome aboard, answers: old but childish (I hear this from my wife often, she thinks it's an insult.), yes but only real women, it's the worst of your fleet in the snow, yes change your oil, yes I think there's Wisconsonites here, but only the cool ones, and no there's no problem riddled Marauders that I've honestly heard of. You'll also find the coolest of the Marauder owners are members here. This site will start taking over your tv time. It's that good. World's best moderators also help out a lot.

Don't worry about how old you are---you still have many years of driving pleasure ahead of you--I was 75 years young on Thanksgiving Day and have 16,000 miles on my Marauder--took fastest stock at Ennis Raceway at Ford Fun Week---life is what you make it ( and for anyone's information--I'm not a fuddy-duddy) I fly my own 1940 Piper Cub, which I soloed in 1945--and regularly do aerobatics. I ahve put over 375,000 miles on Grand Marquis with Performance and handling package--but the Marauder is the best yet with improvements to come---have a ball !!!!

I'm right behind drobin at 58, and the mortal age fades quickly in the MM.

I'm 46 and I gave up a sporty BMW 5 series for my 99 CV LX HPP. My firends say I simply transposed the numbers in my age from 46 to 64 and they are now calling me "Mr. Stevens" rather than Don!!!.

Cruzer, You are what I aspire to. I am also a pilot (never any aerobatics though), I race sports cars, and feel forever young. I firmly believe that I'll be racing, flying, and probably driving a Marauder (or something like it) when I'm 75.

Cruzer's understatement of the century. Let us not forget that in addition to "fastest stock" at FFW, he also logged the most miles in a stolen Marauder that weekend.:) Sorry Maury...couldn't resist.

I'm 47, bought my 300a 2003 model in July of this year.

When I was 23, I owned a 1977 Volkswagen Scirocco, the first car I bought new and all by myself. I also owned a 1979 Fiat X-1/9 Spyder, which I bought for my wife.

I absolutely loved the Scirocco, which, compared to mid 70's cars, was a great car. Reliablilty wise, it was shaky (new brakes at 14,000 miles, new clutch at 19,000, the spedo cable snapped at 6,000 miles and it took the dealer 3 months). But is was fast, my first car with a sun roof (aftermarket), and I had a (at the time) fantastic Pioneer sound system in the car. Traded it in for a Dodge pickup. Biggest complaint about the car was... well, I was a young guy, add Galveston beach and warm summer nights, willing young lasses....and any real activity in the front was out because of the shifter and the back seat was little more than a glove box. My aching back!!!!

The Fiat was another fun car, but this beast had so many defects that I grew to hate the damn thing. It was a beauty, a mid-engine exotic with a cool Targa top. But sheesh, abnormal tire wear, electrical problems, clutch problems, bolts falling out of the half shafts (at speed on I-10), on and on and on. The sheet metal on this car was so thin that if a bird pooped on it it would leave a ding. (well, maybe not that thin, but pretty close). This car damn near killed me and my wife when it spun during a rain storm as we approached the Pierce elevated in Houston. The car smashed sideways into the footing of overhead sign on the passenger side. Cause was the rear suspension breaking loose.
It turns out the car was DROPPED when they offloaded it from the ship and the dealer never bothered to tell me about it. I never did get satisfaction from this accident because the dealer (who is no longer in business) and distributer had deaper pockets and higher paid lawyers. All I got, basically, was what the insurance company provided, some money for medical expenses, and enough to buy a new car (this time a turbocharged Buick). Oh, did I mention my lawyer sucked, too?

My MM has been my most enjoyable car, bar none.

:)

I'm 17. My dad gave me my Marauder when I got my driver's license. When we first heard about the Marauder in concept, we always loved the car. He purchased our Black one in February '03 for himself, and in the process put on around 13000 miles until June, when he gave it to me. He was so happy with it, he bought himself a Blue one. Since then he has been debating getting rid of mine for a 2004 DTR and allowing me to drive that. He personally has decided to get a Chevy Silverado SS in place of his Blue MM because he needs four wheel drive (commutes to NYC daily, and when it snows, it is really a PITA with only RWD). Also, there is a woman around my town that has a Marauder.

Probablt the best way to sum all this up is --since driving privialages are given at 16 in most all states at least-- is to say --
